My winter project LGB Dampfschneeschleuder Xrot RhB

How about the insides of a computer fan?

Stop reading my mind:happy: Mind you it is not a proper impellor, but it's a possibility

Mock up of how it's going to look

That photo looks like my DCC wiring.

First set of side panels were disappointing . So this is the second attempt. Getting 5mmx 3mm planks cut is difficult however one of my customers came up trumps

Been a busy day here. Mark out, turn. drill, hacksaw, file & swear

Made a new impellor. 3mm black sheet mild steel. Not yet in the finished state the blades are only positioned. Need to find somebody with oxycet bottles to braze them in.

Couldn't you silver solder them?

Yes Doug but my blowlamp is just short of temperature.

Hence I want oxycet

Can you get a Mapp gas cylinder for your blowlamp?

Just make sure it's well balanced, even spinning it at med speed will see it double up as a track tamper if the impeller is slightly out.

Hi Tim I am aware of ballancing problems. I have done both static and dynamic ballancing.
Thanks anyway. It might be a warning to others.

Don't fancy paying £90.00 for something that may or may not work. So mine still looks good

Having recently stripped an old motor down for a friend, this pic looks just like the impeller from the water pump that was in the old engine, don't know what engine it was though pretty old V8 job.

Could one of these impellers be used ??? there are thousands of designs and various sizes out there on the web, and poss second hand from local scrappy.

Just a thought, might take a bit of research to find the best one though.

Any thought as to why it would be a crazy idea ????

Usually impellors for pumps only run one way. (correct me if I'm wrong). This way with the blades at 90 deg the fan can run either way. Then the chute on top can shoot the snow either way, according to rotation. I encounter fans quite a bit and it's amazing how many run the wrong way
