Stainz Locos- How many is too many

This *really* confused me, when it popped up as 'unread'..
Couldn't work out why Sparky only had 18 of the wee beasties!!

Wish the two pictures of Miks' bashes were still there... - Missing as I went through..

Final request:
Could someone, at some time, somewhere I end up, produce a 'growler'?? ::) - Just want to hear one, and see what all the fuss is about.
??? ::) ;) ;)

I'd be happy with one :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

some thing terrible just happened on ebay.de, I bought another one ::) ::) ::) ::)

I probably wouldn't worry about the very unusual chassis and cylinder arrangement in the photo - I'd probably use a standard Stainz power chassis and then hang a pivoted rear truck from a U class on the back, making it an 0-4-2. The van bit could then be about 1/3 of an LGB box van stuck on the back of the Stainz cab. The whole box and cab section seems to be covered with a single van-type roof piece. I think the idea is to give the loco a small parcel and light goods capacity, then probably hitch a single coach behind for the few passengers. From what little I can see in a few other photos, there may well be windows in the back of the box so that the crew had at least some limited visibility through it, but I'm sure some of them didn't bother with such sophistication - after all, the driver could always lean out the side.... Basically I think you could make it almost any way you want - I suspect that most of these were expediency builds by local lines to fill specific needs. The ideas came from the book I mentioned here:

Jon.
What total rhubarb. Just set up a decent amount of straight track, put a Stainz with the Round Robin behind it at full whack, count to twenty then press the emergency stop button. Job done :wondering:

To the trained eye there are subtle differences. Not that I am a Stainz collector, but I guess it's like any collection, much of the fun is build uo you collection. I can think of lot of worse things to collect.

PS yes We have one Stainz on the H&MGR but it may soon be sold to help finace another steamie - I'm adicted to steamies ;)
