Stainz Locos- How many is too many

yes i believe mine is stock as the lamps are slightly different to versions with lens and inserts

I Just bought another one, A fairly early green no2 without pickups and the round dome on roof, think that dates it very early.
will post some pics when it arrives

Ooh yes, that's an early one, probably with the "growler" gearbox.

I would like another black cab, which would make 2 of those plus a brown cab. I had a blue one which was sold out of service .

I've only gotz one ... and it's been recabbed.

Would it be any other way Vic?:rolf:

I suppose the answer depends a lot on what sort of modeller you are. For me, a loco is merely the means by which I can get my hands on a chassis which I can bash into something more appropriate for my railway. I can't really justify running a Stainz on my line as I want a small fleet of UK-built locos - though some UK NG railways did run O&K locos and a few Baldwins popped up here and there on UK railways. I do have one Stainz left over from my Starter Set but I'll probably get rid of it cos, although the chassis is robust and the valve gear is useful, I find that traction tyre a bloomin nuisance. I've removed it but the loco still doesn't run anywhere near as well as my Otto based locos which don't have traction tyres.

I've got a nasty stainz on my trousers leg which I can't get to go, does this count?

As long as it improves your traction, who cares?:rolf:

Prob'ly not ;)

any one got a old style no3 cab they want to sell?

As an LGB apprentice what does an old cab look like? I have a Stainz with a transfer no3 I assume this is newer as of my two no 2's one has a transfer and one a raised number "block".

there's also differences in the motor blocks
handrail knobs
and the valve gear
but generally a older stainz has raised numbers and the screws on the back of the cab
