Just realised there was some discussion regarding the Zeunert/(motor supplied by LGB) cardboard kit for a railcar - the prototype is the Wismar railcar type "Frankfurt" which ran on various lines, one was still in use till not too long ago on Wangerooge (originally from the Bremen-Tarmstedt railway), others used to be in service on the Selters-Hachenburg line..

I have one of these Railcars that I bought from Ebay some time back. It was I have to say badly made and I would love a new one of the Cardboard Kit (or an unused kit) to do a proper job as I do love the prototype. Does someone have one that thy are afraid to do that they would like to be relieved of???

Should I post a picture of the Model that I have in here?

Go for it!
I am quite curious about this. Why did they produce a cardboard kit?

Phil, your wish is my command. Here after some scrumming up the Loft to get it out are some pics of my Salters Hackenburg Railcar. I bought it from Ebay Germany back in Jan 2008. I have to say I had no idea of its providence other than describing as having LGB Motor and a Trailer. The complete deal cost me £256 which included the postage. As it has two Wizzy Cranks motor units and Metal Wheels on the Trailer I think that it was a pretty good deal. Even if you include the shabby way that the Cardboard was glued to the Perspex Body Shell (you can just about make this out in the first picture). The Trailer has the same design of Body so I guess if I wanted I could make another Power Car. I have been pontification about putting a replacement for the card on it. Vinyl appears to be a great possibility, now that I have her out of the loft and into my downstairs Storage I may investigate this with my Local Tame Printing Man. I would also like to put Con Rods on one of the Drive Units and am awaiting for some to crop up somewhere. The SchluB 1 is an indicator to show which is the Number One End and hence Forwards. It has a Massoth Railcar Sound Chip fitted by myself. The Packing Case on the Roof has on it`s underside what all the F Numbers do on the Chip. A very useful facility for newcomers to DCC.

Paul,
Interesting selection, any idea where the 0-6-0 Diesel with the 4wheel and Bogie Van was? Just totally unfamiliar to me. Looks to be 76 or 75 cm's.

Unfortunatley the new Orleans streetcar 917 seems to have been scrapped. Any rumours that I Tramcar Trev and Streetcar Sue (aka Sue Daniel) are "involved" is almost totally untrue. The New Orleans cars are superbly maintained and scrupulously cleaned...
Here is a pic of it in its box on my most desired list;

And here it is in the movie; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX1X0PB3Fr0&list=PL461CE20EAF037205&index=1

Heres a twist,
one LGB loco that I thought did not actually have a prototype.
How odd, no less, to find one here in the US. Branson Missouri (The Las Vegas of the Ozarks!!)

I have just done an edit to one of my posts on here as the conversion to the new site messd up some quotes. It also looks like many links have been messed up again with quotes (exclamation marks) having been written as exactly quotes. Might be worth a quick edit if you can be bothered, certainly this is a thread that may go on and on.

I found this thread via Google while searching for prototype info on 99 5001, it's a true treasure trove, perhaps it should be stickied somewhere so it doesn't get buried?

Thanks to all the contributors - whats amazing is that for a almost 10 year old thread majority of the pictures are still working.

The world-famous and much-loved Baldwin Mike #73 - star of the White Pass & Yukon Railway in AK/BC -

1547238004910.png

The only real discrepancy between this and the ill-fated LGB/Aster version occurs in the drive wheel diameter. Having to use the bend-in-the-middle LGB chassis and all its bits, the LGB wheels are 4mm too big...apart from that, it's bang-on 1/22.5 - I know, I measured it.

Here's mine in the backyard...
