The conversion of the LGB New Orleans streetcar, to enable the car to pick up current, from the overhead, requires two Bachmann trolley poles, and a small Vero board (for the wireing of both track, and overhead, via a double pole, double throw, switch). Alyn

To remove the roof of the streetcar, first remove the roof vents, the screws are then revealed. First remove these screws, then, with care push the roof upwards from one of the cab ends:- there is a lug at each end above the cab. The pcb running the length of the streetcar is for lighting . WHEN FITTING THE NEW TROLLEY POLES DO NOT USE LONG SCREWS THAT COULD DAMAGE THE PCB :Looser: Alyn

The first image, the underneath of the roof, there is a small self tapper screw that retains a black moulding of the trolley base, at each end. Unscrew both of these. Note the position, also remove with a Stanley Knife the four pips on the top of the moulding (these, if not removed, will prevent the new trolley pole(s) from moving side to side) Now find two self tapper screws (that have a snug fit in the Bachmann trolley bases) that will pass through the Bachmann trolley base(s) and screw into the trolley roof BUT NO DEEPER THAN THE ROOF. Also fit a solder tag on each if also using trolley pole current collection. Cut the ex-Bachmann trolley pole(s) the same length as the old LGB plastic ones. MEASURE TWICE CUT ONCE!!!! Second picture shows one of the new trolley poles fitted from above. Alyn

Another good improvement , you are such a modeler .
I changed out the dummy plastic poles with Hartland Locomotive Works trolly poles from their Interurbans , which are available seperately , and no length change is needed , of course I do not run with them up . I also use the HLW pantographs , for looks .
You also haunt me with your ideas and suggustions , such as this improvement to the US streetcar , of which I use several , and the suggustion to line the wire up , end to end in the clips of the LGB catenary so that a trolly pole could be used in a path around the layout , this has haunted me a lot , but I still just run with pantographs up .

Hi, Dennis, thanks for the kind words, I have an idea to chop a LGB street car down to a 12 window version, which more popular than the larger 13 window nation wide.(The New york version by LGB should be 12 window to be correct). Second, the idea/conversion into the smaller 10 window Brill car. Also, an easy conversion and repaint into the Atlantic City Brill cars, as they were 13 window. Have you seen anything of the PCC cars yet your side of the pond? Alyn
