Trams: Is There Much Tramway Interest On Here??

Modern Railways this month has a short piece about Luxembourg trams. They now go to the Airport so if flying there a convenient way rather than a horrible bus to get into Town. Extensions possibly 4 planned to be in place by mid 30’s oh and yes they are free to travel in as is all domestic transport in the country. What is not to like?

Sad bit of news I read today in the Metro of a tram being run into by a car, made a change from the normal train/tram hits car routine normally spouted out by the press.

Newcastle (on Hunter) LRV Depot
The depot tracks are the only wired section of the Newcastle route, which runs CAF LRVs wirelessly, with onboard energy storage that does a quick charge top-up at stops.
The Newcastle Interchange with EMU rail services to Sydney and DMU rail services to the Hunter region is immediately behind the LRV depot. (photo - Sally Bolton)

Visited Blackpool on Friday to travel in the relatively recently opened extension to the North Station in 2024, a long waited for extension with the track of the delta Junction being laid out in around 2011/2012 when the line was rebuilt for the new Flexity Trams. Joined the Tramway at Star Gate for a trip to the Station and then back out via the other angle of the Junction walking back to the Station red lining of new track achieved!

It is a couple of years since I have been to Blackpool (and even more years since I was born there), and I always loved the green balloon trams, these new ones look practical, but not the same style.

Yes sadly time marches on, I did not see any of the older trams out working during my short trip. I also forgot to look at where the Rigby Road depot line heads off, too busy looking at the sea!

Yesterday, May 24, 2026, I visited the Bergische Museumsbahn and took some photos.
First, I photographed some original vehicles, then trams in 1:22.5 scale, followed by those in 1:20 scale. Finally, I photographed trolleybuses and trams in 1:87 scale.
