Rail Bus cable snapped

I ran my rail bus today but the lights did not work in the second carriage, at closer inspection it appears that one of the connector cables has broken.

My questions are first can it be repaired ? if not where could i buy another from ?

You could try sending the pics to Piko bud. It worked with Peter when he lost a buffer .......... although their response to the point problems hasn't been great.

should be able to be fixed - looks like they are some sort of insulation displacement - just need to remove whats left in the plug and refix the cable.

Agree with Mark, looks like an IDC connector - if so, shouldn't be difficult to pull out the broken off bits from the plug and re-fit to the cable.

Don't forget to make sure you refit the wires to the correct left and right pins of the plug otherwise you'll probably get a short. I don't have a Piko railbus so cannot advise the best way to ensure you get this correct: does the cable have a mark on one wire that you can match up with the remains of the stuff in the plug? Otherwise does the railbus have two of these cables - can you copy the other one?

As a general warning; don't pull the cables out by holding the wires, use fingernails or something to ease the actual plug out of the socket. Avoid flexing the cable where it enters the plug. These two things can both contribute to weakening the cable right where it joins the plug: it's the most common place where cables seem to fail.

Looks much like the massoth two pin decoder plug but they come with a length of wire attached not sure where you can get the plug only.....
