PDR Highland extension up and running

foundations dug and laid and the first few courses up
the idea is to shore up and partially replace the retaining wall closest, and under the steam-up sidings, and curve around, to the height of the solid 'orrible concrete blocks.
the steps etc will be pulled down below the new height, and the resultant triangle[ish] back-filled as a flower bed

oh, and of course to take the track around to the new shed
leaping via a bridge
then the holey, 'orrible concrete blocks will be replaced by natural stone as a backdrop
we're also going to have a loop up to the highland extension in the field, to allow continuous running

then we can lay the new patio
and the current Mrs Owlpool will be happier with a tidy back-yard, instead of the "all-you-care-about-is-the-railway-and-you-never-do-anything-about-the-garden" eyesore/mess

New wall looks very nice Ian , take it you will have it all completed for the celebrations in June

Now that sounds very familiar!! Must admit I'm not really into gardening, as far as I'm concerned the bit out the back is an outdoors play room that doesn't exist for half the year when it's too cold to go outside! If I could have my way it would be turned into one massive workshop/shed!

yes, yes, yes
they don't see it that way, even though its ok for them to turn the rooms in the house into quilting emporia, photo studios, offices, repositories for carrier bags for unfinished projects, wivout so much as a by-yer-leave, guv
oops, soap-box alert

At last got started on phase 4
taking off the turf and digging the trench for the cuttings and tunnel
horseshoe shaped trench around the rockery
the tunnel will be at the top near the wheelbarrow
probably about 15m, ruling gradient 1:33 with the tunnel at the summit on the level, probably with a liftout section of roof as my arms won`t be long enough to reach derailment

Even with a1:33 gradient it`s going to end up deep

The tunnel will probably start where the wheelbarrow wheel is

Blimey. Hope you go plannning permission for that ???

rain stops play at the moment, hope to continue at the weekend, may have to get a bit more track
planning permisssion sought from and approved by the highest authority
she encourages it as a good way to get fit :D

I´ll have to try that one on the current Ms K&NWLR ....

I had to put a bit of weight on gradually over a few years before the idea caught on :-X 8)

Ok. I´ve got step 1 of the programme done, then. :D
