New Forum

As they all seem to be for N gauge and HO can they not be filtered at source?

Don't like change for changes sake. Having to relearn how to use the forum takes much of the enjoyment out of it. I have neither the time or inclination to apply myself to this task so will do my best to tie up some 'loose ends' with other forumites and probably go elsewhere. Pity after all these years but someone's going to tell me that's progress. Not in my book.
I have to agree with you Mike

I am actually using GSC less now!!

Oh, I like to be controversial in the morning........................

.......but I'm seeming to find that the new look forum software is actually easier to use. It seems more intuitive and quicker for lots of things.

I'd even found my own answer about emoticons (once I'd posted the question) :triumph::triumph:

I agree with you 'Chugger. It takes a short while but I now find the layout nice and easy and the new functions neat and straight forward. Have you looked in the Media section yet? and the Resources section is becoming more populated. Anyone can add useful links.

Never made change for change sake! Every active user of gsc has been emailed with the reasons for the change.

Totally up to you if you want to use gsc or not. At the end of the day it's run as an expensive hobby site for like minded people if you don't like the new easier to use software the go, there are plenty of people that like the changes and appreciate the time and effort and money taken to provide this facility.

If people keep moaning for the sake of it I will close GscaleCentral up to you lot really.

Kind regards

Paul

'Tis my HO that it seems that the Forum is a little more lively since this latest update. That much I certainly like.

Hey Paul - please don't let the nay-sayers get to you, I really think it's all just a part of human nature. In fact I have to admit I used to be like it myself when faced with something new and unfamiliar.

However, as the rate of technological progress gets ever faster for us all, I've come to realise that the instinct to react against change is not usually driven by some shortcommings in the changes themselves - but more by my inability to keep up with it all.

I think there will always be a small percentage of the community who are not sufficiently self aware as to be able to appreciate this - so just remember there's silent majority out there that appreciate your efforts probably more than you realise.

Thanks for the support, i know the large majority of people do appreciate what we have here, its only a very small group of people that criticize everything i do and i will cull them from the forum if it continues, im sure everyone knows who i am referring to and to be honest they will be no real loss to the community.

After initial reservations on seeing the revised layout, I've found it is actually a lot easier to use and find topics that I'm interested in now. The "New Posts" feature is very handy in that respect and better than on the previous format.
Keep up the good work!

The new layout works just fine for me. Just like the superseded site did. I never had any problems.
What I don't like are the washed out tones of the backgrounds. All the posts look sort of merged to me. Just like Large Scale Central.
The mark all posts read function seems to take forever to work. But work it does. Eventually.

I'm very happy with the new software. Thank you Paul.

Loading photos seems easier (although I've only done two!) which is a major plus for me.

I think it's the nature of our hobby that we can attract some people who seem to react negatively to all sorts of things (actually, to everything!). I suggest we ignore them.

I believe the majority of us realize when we have a good thing.

I think it isn't really that different from what we had before, it just LOOKS different. It also seems sweeter running in places. Just about to try the photos bit in a min.

Tried the photos bit and I found it more tricky than the old way. Perhaps I've not got the right idea. I couldn't find a way to move them about the post like I could before. I've still managed, but also didn't like that each time I went get another I had to scroll through my whole file system as it kept returning to the original start place.

Help???

I like the layout and appearance of the new forum, with one provision, in the old forum the unread post deleted themselves after reading, how do I get this one to do the same.

Think I've posted more in the last few days than I have in a while.
It was the challenge.
Seems straightforward to me so far thanks Paul
