I have LGB 5006/5007 setup was working fine, until I moved it to another layout and the red light came on plus power was reduce to about 3v.

I guess there's a short! Now the red light does not go out only went the plug is pull.....

Help would be appreciated thanks.IMG_8078.jpg

Sounds like you might have a short on the new layout.

If you disconnect the unit from the track and switch on, does the red light go out?

If so, definitely a track short....

Hi Gizzy - No it doesn't go out - I had to use lgb 5000 controller which worked fine all day the previous day with no problems.
Any other thoughts ?
Your unit might have died then. It is quite elderly now. The 4 figure part number is a give away to its age....

Help would be appreciated

The 5006 "manual" (https://www.gbdb.info/data/manual/LGB/5006.pdf) includes this picture . . .

. . . and this (English translation of the) explanation of the numbers . . .

All we need to do now is understand what "Overload Protection, driving voltage - red" actually means!

Is the red light on a button you can press? When we get a short circuit on our 5006 (number 2 goes red instead of green, we press it - or something nearby, perhaps - and it resets.

Does the red light stay on when plugged in but with the 5007 disconnected? If so, as others have said, the 5006 might be kaput.

Cheers

David
