Kit building on the Sweets

Hi all, Before I start "Remember rule 8 applies". I'm a total novice when it comes to G Gauge and all the variants. I've proven this to myself and others with recent poor purchases, like the vastly undersized yellow box cars (bought on eBay) and the slighty over gauged stock (below images). Not to write every item off I decided to have a dabble at kit bashing and just a bit of 'out an out' messing about.
Firstly I had to alter the bogies to the rolling stock, they were approximately 50mm (or just under) in width, so I hacked them back to fit my Piko track.
After an evening of constant trick or treaters to my front door, I ended up with several sweet containers which I put to good or bad (remember rule 8) use.

Both Tankers have been altered to fit the track, but yes you've guessed it the Refreshers container is the main subject of this posting.

This is a work in progress and I will most likely paint the whole thing to resemble a grubby tanker or should I leave it as it is? Friendly comments much appreciated in these times of trick or treating or am I closer to Remember, remember the 5th of November (burn it).

regards
Rob

keep at it rob..paint it, weather it, learn from it, and make more.. if you need any help eating the sweets call up again mate:thumbup:

I'm well impressed! Personally I wouldn't weather them as they look great, and shows where they came from.
Top job  (Love the bendy straw connector)

go on!

you are not the only one, who bought these undersized, overgauged cars.
neither the first one, who tries to make something usable out of them.

but for easier conversion, have a look here.
the ebayseller i got them from had already "regauged" them.
he simply cut off a peace of the aixle in the middle and shoved it on again on the outside of the wheels.
i think, that is a good method. especially, if one makes two cuts to put a piece on both outsides.

I'll admit to being there too (50mm I think the gauge was) - ended up, after regauging, using the stock as static items!

And I think its a great piece of lateral thinking Rob - looks good (you could have a named freight train (Transport of Delight).
