Hi John no absolutely solid to walk on. Ballast dry mixed with cement over steps area.

Well the Beast shed has arrived. Have cut out the track entry and exit doors but still need to trim them and hinge them etc and fit some sort of locks. Track is laid into the shed but I still have to construct 500mm base boards inside for the track to run on. Electrics all done as well, that was first job to get some power and light.
Hi R3 curves all round. Inside the shed the twin tracks link up in order to form continuous running loops! The LGB Harz 2-10-2 will run on R1’s though...Very nice. Are they R2 curves at the end? I would love a Harz 2-10-2 but have a few R1s in my layout.
What happens inside the shed
Hi finished hinging the train track doors and put a framing around the outside using some treated timber which the shed erector guys left me. Also made a start on the framework for the baseboards inside the shed.
Looking great in there. I think a shed/stock storage yard is the one thing I wish I could have incorporated into my line.
Hi the build continues with the base boards now added onto the framework in the shed. Track provisionally laid out and have had to order some more R3 curves to complete.
First run around inner loop with sumpter valley mallet, a 40th birthday present to myself 12 years ago just waiting for some more track to finish the outer loop off in the shed. Ahhh... it’s good to be able to run trains again. I’ve missed them for the 8 months since we moved

Running a couple of trains tonight with coaches now that I have got some of the stock out of storage!

Very jealous of your shed! Have you shelves for storing additional rolling stock?
No shelves yet but just on the double track mainline inside the shed you can store two complete trains. I have a couple of sidings in the shed as well but might need addition storage shelves at some point!
