Actually I am in Swindon, Wiltshire, not more than 4 miles from the Moon rakers Pub/roundabout.

Ah, I see where your thread title comes from now. I thought you might be in or near East Dereham because years ago on a stay there I am sure I read somewhere in the town as a piece of visitor information that the story of the moonrakers was credited to the men of East Dereham. I'd read the story as a youngster and it there made no reference to the name of a town or village.

I am corrected.

My first ever Roundhouse was the 0-6-2 tender locomotive demonstrated to me on LGB R1 curves loop in their old concrete roofed and sided building.

Welcome Diane. You made a good start to your line, and at least you didn't find out the hard way about locos taking a dive of the end!
You coud drive posts through your soil into the ground below ad work of that to make a track bed. Tgey would need to be well treated though, or Filcris plastic posts
