I think the bobber was to light, and it gave the most trouble, but other stock would derail from time to time in the same area, tried ensuring the points were level and aligned, but eventually I decided that replace and have done with it.

a little weight can help, bobbers are indeed notoriously light, and often a problem will be pointed out by the last car in a train.

When I started, I did not understand trackwork, switches, flangeways, etc. So I was running a 13 car train and the caboose kept derailing... well, it MUST have been the caboose, took it off, and now the last car derailed... hmm, now THAT car is bad, take if off...

When the train got down to 3 cars, I realized the problem was trackwork, not the cars... good lesson for me.

Hm 3 times, that much wine and you are in danger of a sore head next day Jimmy! Not sure how this multiple posting occurs, I have had it happen to me on occasions. You can delete a post but that has not always worked properly as the 3 posts on occasion have thought they were 1. Computers are indeed witchcraft!

Time on Tumble Down yesterday, my very old clamshell Stainz connected (electrically) to my sound tender pulling my track cleaning coach.

Looking forward to receiving my battery conversion to see what is like :):):)

Work has been underway in creating my water feature; pump, liner, underlay, reservoir, hoses and spill way all bought along with a ton (literally) of rock, so here is how is has gone:

Hole for reservoir dug.

Reservoir (water tank unused) in place.

Fitted with a lid to keep the dirt out, as I needed to fill with water to keep in place.

Starting to dig the water course channel out.

Yesterday heights sorted and channel complete.

This is the head of the water feature, a small pool with a small waterfall spill at the head.

So with the Grandkids visiting this week, today I will be reinstating the line for the Playmobile, and the area "made safe".

Hi Jimmy,
Did you find any information about sizing the sump for your stream?
Obviously, once the pump is off, all the water ends up 'downhill' in the sump.

How much of a fall do you have on the stream?

Thanks,
PhilP.

PhipP it's about 600 mm max, however I hope to have a couple of "pools" to offset the water use :)

A worthwhile thing to consider if you can manage it is an overfill line of some sort from any Water Butts you may have to the new water feature. This during rain will give you an added free fill at times. My Main Pond is supplied by such a System Running from the Shed some 60 or so feet to this Pond via another Water Feature overflowing that Tank. I think the diagram below explains it better than my words. I used Pipe from the Butts (filled by Left Side guttering) to the Tank and Guttering from the Tank to the Pond. The Tank is also filled from the Shed Guttering (Right) as well.

I have dreams of a flowing water feature, but it would spend half the year as an ice block .
