I'd call it a road train......literal translation of strassenbahn;)?

Maybe Basel's best now...but didn't Siemens have to rebuild them to strengthen the framework?

As I would consider a 'Road Train' one of those things in the antipodes which don't run on rails, but have many trailers, perhaps we should designate it a 'Street Train'. Not doing German but wouldn't that also be similar?

Yes, they ended up with hairline cracking in the bodywork joints so had to be strengthened accordingly. Think that applied to all Combinos built before 2004 - The Basel ones were faulty, dating from 2002 (sorry, couldn't resist that.....!)

A new Nürnberg tram had to be tested.

Also this one. It comes with motor strikes in the workshop. Not really successfull.

Tram and trailer had got new couplings. They had to be tested, The frist ones where to short and produzed derailments.

Now they are working fine.

Two Wupperal trams, the one in front with an used decoder. Runs perfect. Both models in the front are more than 28 years old.

This one I buoght on Ebay. It runs after repaiiring two wires in both motors very well. Only at one switch it derails in the foreward direction. If driven backward ---- no problems. Will be solved.

Also new in my collection the Christmas trams.

Düwag 6-axle trams from Rheinbahn Düsseldorf. The builder hasn't worked very well in it. So I have to doe some cosmetics. I also bought an kit from that type. It comes without the two motor boggies, pantagraph and passengers. I orderd the kit 4 days before I saw the ready build modell on Ebay for 350,00€ The naked kit is 320,00 €.

I put some weight undernees the body. The weight i a "weightrope" for curtains. It needs a bit more weigth in the middle. There is place for some brass pieces.

This part will be finished during the summer.

So I'm interested in trams.

Peter who starts on Saturday his holidays in England, visiting The National Tramway Musuem at Crich on Sunday. A week later I will be in London at The Water ande Steam Musuem. Both musuems have tram display on show.

Finally Padua. There is only one tram route. It uses the French Translohr system where the trams run on rubber tyres, a single central rail serving for guidance and return current.

Is that the same as the system that is being replaced in Caen?

I believe that they are now building a conventional tramway there....

Hi Gizzy

You are right the Caen trams use the same system.

Was there another 'tram' person who was after travelling on all the tram routes?? - Bit like the Branch-Line Society.
.
That was probably me, I travelled every route of every line in the Country. As I have Free Train Travel it was a cheep excersize. Incan even travel a few of the systems for free using Rail Travel or Bus Pass. However I gave it up a year or so ago, just started to get a bit stressful when I still had 3 systems to do when it got to mid December. Though when I was doing it I never failed. Good job I gave it up firstly it was a bit anal, but now that I have Berney it would be pretty well impossible as most Tram Systems do not allow Dogs. I do though try to get the new sections in the Year they are built. Still need to do the second Crossing of Manchester Town Centre before the end of this year!

As for Occre Kits, I have the London LCC 106 kit that I am ploughing through when the enthusiasm gets to me. It is being adapted to a Heywood Double Deck Steam Tram Trailer. These were originally built as ungainly looking 6 wheelers but converted using Fox Type Bogies, I have managed to source the Bogies from IP Engineering using Insulated Wheels from Essel Engineering. I still have the Top Deck to build but all the seats are ready to go onto the Top Foor. Just need to work out a way to be able to remove Top Floor in the future, oh and get the Glazing in now that I gphave put on all the Top Cross Beams. Who was ut said that Occre Kits were simple?

I may have posted a pic of this before, if so sorry.

I am also windering about a few LGB Trams that are surplus to requirements, spoke to Glendale about them but he said that they do not make much money. Might try GRS. Trouble is I want the money at Glendale as you do better on second hand sales if you convert to products rather than cash. Guess GRS will be the same.

This has become the definitive tram thread.
Some great pictures of models and 1:1 scale alike.
The originator, Steve Lewis, is very quiet at the moment, I haven't seen him for more than 12 months.
