The Woodlock Line

After many years of problems with a 3 way point, it's time to say goodbye. I've had a very poor experience with the thing, mostly with the left turn aspect of it. Locomotive and rolling stock wheels always fall out of gauge on the 'frog', resulting in having to do trailing moves only, and that's a lottery as to if it works or not. I've thickened check rails, adjusted the level, everything.

As you all know by now, I prefer a reliable railway, so it has to go. New RH points incoming, courtesy of @dunnyrail (much appreciated). And to be fair, I had the point because I could, and it was needed at the time for a return loop, but now it forms a proper second circuit. Good riddance 3 way point, you could have been so much better. (so now it will sit it the spares cupboard). And now I have a spare reverse loop module.

Progress update:
I had the LGB 12360 R1 as well and found it to be pretty wretched. I replaced it with the 1235 16000 R3 3-way that i hunted for and operations have dramatically improved. No more derailments.

Testing the locomotive with it's skates removed, after they started sticking up, or down for no apparent reason. They were causing derailments, lack of power and general problems despite best efforts to rectify. It appears to be fine, leading me to question if the skates help at all.... after all, Aristocraft and Bachmann never fitted skates. Anyway. The stone work is still covered as the temperature is only 2 Celsius up.

Yesterday was a really nice spring day. Painted the fence. Prepped the grass and gave it a first cut. The only thing outstanding now, is to paint the BBQ. Was going to give the railway a good going over, but guess what.... Rain.
