The re-instated chord from Weybourne North Junction to what was the former Quarry Branch has now been fully commissioned and wired for running in both directions.
Previously, this chord was one way only, before its removal when the LG&B updated to digital technology. With the old branch line now brought up to double track main-line standards, there was a requirement for trains heading on the Up Main Line, to be able to access the route directly to Sheringham, without the need for reversal.
Crossover No. 9 which allows Up trains onto the chord is not yet in use, so trains leaving from Weybourne South Junction will use Crossover No. 8 as the line can be run bi-directionally, although left hand running is the norm....
