Has anybody found a replacement for the Stainz push on type wheels with another make or type ? looking for spoked wheels , to fit a 20211 Motor block , not looking to replace the solid Red wheel with the same, nothing wrong with them on my gearbox apart from they are the wrong colour and have no spokes :)

Could you 3D print an overlay, perhaps? :wondering: - If so, two set's, please! :)

I had looked at that, but it's not quite the same as theirs no daylight through the spokes :) but its an alternative thats still a possibility, If I had an old axle I would see how easy the tyre comes off the plastic hub, then you could print wheels with spokes.

I believe this has been tried?? - And, not too long ago..

Due to the shape of the tyre, it is not possible to get them apart.. :(

I had wondered if a CNC mill could be programmed to mill the existing wheels?? - But don't have enough 'production' experience, to know if this would be feasible? :wondering:

Thanks Found them think that's going to cost more than the Stainz did by the time I import them to the UK :) But now I know they do / did exist just need to find them closer to home or in Europe.

Just found a seller on The usual auction site that sells them in Europe, so emailed him to see if he has a full set, they only cost £2.50 a wheel shame about the postage :)

Sorted thanks I ended up with two full sets, complete with axles and gears from the usual auction site, So I have a set for the current build and spares for the next conversion :) but I will now look at what wheels are on the motor block from now on :)

Wheels came today, they were listed as used but they have never been used, the gears on the axles have never been in a gearbox at all :) so I assume they are new old stock . So Stainz conversion No 2 now has Black Spokes in its wheels which looks better, the mounting taps on the rear wheels are not long enough, don't know why as the valve gear all looked similar to a Stainz, Just needs something printing to sort it out so no big deal. and I have a spare set for Loco number three, theirs not much of the original Stainz left in this one now

Cost with shipping £35 for four complete sets of wheels with axels and gears so not a bad deal I suppose.

A small change but it certainly makes a big difference in terms of its 'Britishness' :)
