Just a wild idea - anyone want to run a stand at G Rail to promote this website. I am pretty sure we could blag a table. ::)

Already 'collared' to run a stand.. Tend to mention the website for those after more practical information.. if you get one next to ours, we can heckle each other!! ;)

The Round Robin Boxcar visited a small garden railway in Canberra on Monday 29 2014.  The railway is 32mm gauge so a bit of cheating was used to get the attached pic.  At the moment it is next scheduled to visit another 45mm gauge line in mid February 2015.  When should I be parcelling it up for sending on to the UK for the show?

Not wanting to be a damp squib, over the send it back to the various UK 2015 exhibitions.

Has anyone asked Paul for his thoughts?
It's common courtesy, after all it's his wagon, and he started the ball rolling as it were. Last thing I can recall, I am sure he was keen to have the wagon back home from it's journey.

He could well have plans to the same thing in the States.

I concur, it should be up to Paul (minimans) - see his post from Nov 1st - https://www.gscalecentral.net/g-scale-pictures/round-robin-boxcar/msg331757/#msg331757

In my post I agreed it should go back to Paul and then said I could get it on display at the Warley NEC show. I should have made clear that I can arrange this if Paul would like it to appear at the show. As I recall it is Paul's wagon - he supplied it at no cost to GSC and got the ball rolling.

In my opinion it's time it went home. Job well done :) (heck, if the owner asks for it back... )
Incidentally, imagine the amount of miles it has racked up on other people's track, let alone the transit :o

Thanks everybody! I am keen to get it back it's been away a Looong time! But the Warley show seems like a good thing especially if somebody could do a little write up about the travels? Anyway I guess i'm saying let it continue on until the Warley show then send it back to me.......................Paul

Can someone tell me the date for the Warley show plus who will be looking after the boxcar. Then I can plan the sending onwards.
How quickly do you want it to leave??
This year the Warley show is 28th and 29th November, so plenty of time!
However, if it was to do the 'UK' shows on its' way back, could I suggest it might be nice if it could appear at the G Scale Society's show?? - This might be a bit too soon as it is 22nd March.

I would even volunteer to get it there, as will be exhibiting anyway..
Being a 'newbie', would appreciate some input for the 'words' to go with it, but I suppose I could spend a day, or so, reading the thread from star to finish. :o

It visited the GSS show in 2013 on the GRO stand. I had a poster plus a slideshow of the photos on this thread running on a picture frame viewer.

It has also been to the Stoneleigh show in 2011 & The National Garden Railway show in 2012.

If it is agreed that the wagon goes to the Warley show then I will personally look after it and the club will pay the postage back to the USA. I say this in my role of a senior member of the exhibition organisation team. I will put something together to tell the story of the wagon which will hopefully be good for GSC and garden railways in general. This will be displayed in a locked showcase with the wagon.
I might be able to persuade Steve Flint (railway modeller editor) to put a in a few lines about it as part of the show build up - no hurry as I won't speak to him until June.

Mike Bickford has advised me that he is posting the boxcar back to me in Adelaide. The packaging was disintegrating so I will provide new packaging and mail it back to Paul Edmunds unless I get an email from him asking for it to go elsewhere.

May be I will see it again in July at the Garden Railway Show in Denver.

Thanks Peter! I will see what I can do about getting it to a few shows over here in the USA but for now it will be good to get it back and hopefully run it one more time on my Railway before it gets taken up.............Paul

Time to go home.

After almost five years of travel, I today posted the boxcar back to Paul in California.

It will be good to see the pictures of its final run in California.

Considering how much pleasure the boxcar has given this forum over the past five years I'm surprised at the size of Paul's "thanked count".

How about everyone on the forum clicking "say thanks" to boost Paul to the top of the list?

I suggest thanking post #1 on this thread, which has had nearly 50,000 views.

And well done Peter for arranging its safe journey home.

Great idea!

Have done the deed....

A gracious proposal! Well deserved indeed. Have added my thanks.

Its five year mission.... to explore strange new gardens. To seek out new lines and new centralistas. To boldly go where no boxcar has gone before.

Yeah, live long and prosper, Mister Boxcar :D
Sadly my railway has gone since your visit, but if it is any consolation you got a thumbs up from SWMBO :)
