Round Robin boxcar

Sunday 6th October and the Round Robin Boxcar had it's first run on colonial rails at the H&MGR. I'm going to hog it for a week or so as I wish to savor the special nature of the boxcar, what I didn't expect was the time capsule that is traveling with it! More of that in a few days time when I absorbed everything it carries. :bigsmile:
So out on the H&MGR, traveling over the just repaired Nina's Trestle...

Superb photos John. What's still inside? I know the small container of Emerald Coast white sand was ditched back in the early days, but it would be nice to know what's been traveling round the world with it.
I think this was a really great idea of Paul's. He should be 'honoured' in some way!

It really wasn't just my idea Martin really, it sort of came about through the forum as a good idea. I just happened to have a spare boxcar to send on it's travel's! and the end result has been superb really. the places it's been and have yet to visit is reward enough! it will take pride of place among my possessions and mantle shelf when it finally comes home................................Paul.............
 
It's lovely to see it visiting railways all over the world and spotting my markings on the side :) What a great project to join up the forum :)
 
Just been looking at some of the early posts, when it was traveling around the US - 3 years ago! So much has happened in that time.

Has anyone plotted its travels in a map? How far has it been. Surely some kind of Guiness World Record. Certainly worthy of a write up in one of the mags at least. How about it Tag?
 


:) Confirming that the Round Robin Boxcar is alive and well in New Zealand. Seen here this afternoon on Brian Cashmore's Lindy Railway in Wellington NZ.
 
Yep the Round Robin Boxcar has now traveled it's second railway in NZ, while Brian Cashmore isn't a member of GSC he is a "guest" browser, so that counts! My Dubs A escorted it around...

The Round Robin Boxcar has now run on it's third railway within the Tawa Basin. This time on GSC member Porche's railway. Wayne (who dreams of owning a Porche) has an extensive indoor DR layout for testing the models he prolifically scratch builds. He doesn't usually looks this surprised, usually more grumpy like me :laugh:

Though last night was filled with a degree of regret as due to a pending move the railway is about to be dismantled and it may be a while before Wayne builds a new railway. He will though still be building models.

John also took some more shots. Had to get the O&K in action, as it is the only Euro type loco I have. The Boxcar will get an airing at Rail_Ex 2013 this weekend.

:o Wayne, by trade, is a builder, and not just of models. His application of 'Distributed Load' defies all engineering logic. Then again, so does Wayne ;D ;D ;D

8) They came in their thousands, they oohed, they ahhed.



The 'Boxcar' on show at Rail-Ex 2013 yesterday and today. Some people even thought the shipping case I displayed it on was part of the 'package', except the woman who said she knew where the crate came from, because she sold it to me.

Party trick with the Climax running on rollers, was to get the kids to 'blow out the fire'. Then I'd stop the train, and tell them they have broken it..... went well, until one kid nearly burst into tears (but Grandma was in on the joke).
