I have a toy car RC circuit running an old Bachmann loco....a crucial part of the Tx is a 'gizmo' 9mm diameter, 3 terminals and fed with 1 +ve wire to terminal 1 &2 connected and t'other +ve lead to 3......operates and looks like a 'pot' of some sort ....left reverse, centre off, right forward........ can't get a decent pic to focus properly....the only marking reads B506-60......I think the 60 is degrees ? rather vague description but I need a replacement and I'm hoping there is an answer out there....Thanks and regards Mardy..

Tx was in bits and pieces when given to me....rescued the RC parts and got them working but then managed to bugxxx up this vital 'gizmo'........pretty sure this was the one the kids had.....obviously the trigger (not steering) is forward- off- reverse and moves the inner workings of the gizmo accordingly......hope this helps ....will try tomorrow with a better camera and see if I can photo the pcb

Have you tried swopping the Speed Servo to one of ten other plugs, you may just if lucky get it working via the Turny Wheel?

It's a different set up .......no servo obvious....

Sounds like you're describing a single axis joystick potentiometer?

Ok so there must have been a plug in for the Speed Controller and whatever did the Wheel Turns? These surely will work in a similar way to a servo?
The steering for the car is a different part of the set up..another smaller motor and I didn't take much notice of it. (see post above to Nick).

Yep. similar I would guess........it looks and feels like a pot very small 9mm diameter 3mm deep......+ve lead from pcb to say 2 terminals left and returns to pcb...ignoring gismo and joining that +ve lead sets the motor going forward....when connected thru' gismo we get forward and reverse ????? I am just working with an on/off switch and forward motion at present.

Will keep trying today to get a shot in better focus....there is a pattern visible as on some pcb's...... an outer and inner circular shape, could be one or two links at various points and appear to head down to the 3 terminals..........the moving part inside I assume is linked to three different positions giving forward, off, and reverse........
I use a magnifying glass and get a better view and it is definitely marked B502-60 (the 60 is degrees)

Thanks JohnS...been looking through above and there are some similar pots..there is no doubt its B502-60 degree but it mus be a particular type.....to me a linear pot is a speed controller part and rotates clockwise 1200 to 1100...this gizmo of mine has 2 tracks apparently.... roughly 1100-0100 is blank...anti-clock 1100 - 0700 send motor in reverse.....clock wise 0100 - 0500 sends motor forward.......so how do we find workings of each type.................................might I add to this enlightening postage I am not knowledgeable in these matters but in my 86 years I was a Master Grocer and considered a fine musician and I really enjoy and appreciate this majestic band of 'Rail-nuts' who offer their assistance so freely......Mardy.

Mardy, the best thing you could do is get in touch with your local club, I know that that may be difficult in your case, but if not a railway club, a model aircraft or even boat club may turn up trumps. Most members of clubs love sharing their knowledge and would probably be more than happy to help. Actually seeing and being able to play with the offending part is usually better than trying to describe it.

Decided to dissect my Gizmo and it looks as if I can find a sub on site as suggested by JohnS above...Thanks everyone at this stage and I will see what I can find.......

I think this Gizmo only directs pulses from the IC's to the Rx...I still need to know what to ask for ????

What sort of RX do you have how is it connected to the ESC?
Hi GAP..............taking a shot of the Rx There is no ESC such as I know.....back shortly...Mal R.
