Hi Everyone,

I work as a steel erector by trade and started PlaymoParts to keep myself busy between jobs and over quiet periods in the winter.
Most of what I make is for my kids as often the only way to get a train or a set for a reasonable price is to buy one thats incomplete and make the parts myself.
I'm extremely fortunate to still have my complete childhood brass track sets. This has let me take detailed measurements and test parts to ensure they are a good fit.

I wanted to start this thread to ask if there was anything people are missing for their Playmobil sets or G-scale sets generally.

Currently on my desk is the 4053 Yellow Work Train:

The roof and airhorn is next on my list, but I'll be looking at all the parts in this set in due course.
There's also the possibility of designing a conversion chassis that will make it compatible with the RC motor units.
I would also like to make a complete kit of the works train for those with a spare RC motor unit.

Somthing you can't find or would rather not pay collectors prices for? Add it to this thread and I'll take a look.
If its a viable product and suitable for 3D printing, I'll do my best to make it available.
You can send me a part, I'll replicate it and send it back to you to test fitment. There is no design fee, I just ask that you cover postage and material costs.

The RC conversion kit is now available!
I had to make the chassis a tad longer to allow for the aerial but with the exception of the cab, all the original Playmobil parts can be transferred over.

I've had requests for some additional parts for this set which will be coming soon:
  • Exhaust stack at the back of the cab
  • Green fuel tank
  • Professional vinyl decal set for both the conversion kit as well as the stock set.

Other parts in the works:
  • 3935 Trailer ramps
  • Playmobil wagon bogies
  • 4106 flatbed car chocks
  • Playmobil 4034/4123 "Steaming Mary" Caboose Roof & Walkway

Please let me know if there is somthing you want added to the list!

It's an impressive and magnificent work
It is great help for people who does not feel confident to cut and sand their 4053 to convert it to RC
Thank you very much

Cheers! Makes me wonder if its possible to RC convert the Steaming Mary too. I never realised the main locomotive had no motor unit and was driven by the tender. Dare I even suggest a dual drive Steaming mary with two RC motor units?
Probably have to put that idea to one side for now but its an interesting thought!

About idea to add motor in Steaming Mary loco, there are some issues :

It is better to motorize only tender or only loco
because wheel height of loco is different than those of tender
speed will be different with same motor.

the axes of the wheels of motor are not the same as axles of loco.

The battery must be located remotely if the RC motor is installed in the locomotive.

Our friend Dillen creates a motor block with wheels of Steaming Mary :

It is not RC.

Not exactly Playmobil but clearly of that ilk. Now if only PM had the gumption to have kept on making trains that fitted our gauge I wonder what else they could have come up with?
