New Forum

Must be honest.. I didn't like it when I first saw it. Bit of a culture shock I guess.
It's nice and clean though, and seems pretty smooth to use. Not bad at all.

Are you aware that tapatalk doesn't function at the moment though?

Tapatalk is not needed with this forum software as its fully responsive so works well with phones

I find the scrolling very jerky - maybe it's because I'm still using the old Windows XP and it's not happy with this desparate need these days to make everything work on a smart phone.

Having said that - everything seems to work fine on my other model railway sites.

works well, looks good
will just take a while to get used to something new - usual prob for me :)

Try using the UI.X theme (change at the bottom of the screen) should say Xenith at the moment.

Also as windows XP is no longer supported you could have a ton of viruses and other nasties.

Well I know MS said that, but I'm still getting regular updates - just like before the quoted end date. Apparently some military non critical inventory control applications are still running XP because it's cheaper to pay MS to keep XP current, rather than all the hassle of changing to a different system.

This is kind of confirmed by my bank (Lloyds) who said they knew of no reason not to continue using XP for on-line banking.

I'm running AVG and Malwarebytes.

Don't like change for changes sake. Having to relearn how to use the forum takes much of the enjoyment out of it. I have neither the time or inclination to apply myself to this task so will do my best to tie up some 'loose ends' with other forumites and probably go elsewhere. Pity after all these years but someone's going to tell me that's progress. Not in my book.

That's sad. The forum's core functionality hasn't changed much. I just use the New Posts link at the top, just like the old one. It doesn't update in real time any more, but apart from that it just looks a little different. Posting pix is really simple now. Just click the pic icon and paste the link.

Please don't go! :D

Hi,

I cannot update, (or load onto the site) photos in my album: Paul did one for me and for that Thank You.

I have tried upload a file, as I think (perhaps) that was going to be easier; no luck - I get 'an error has occured' with no assistance as to what I have done wrong to the program requirements; I cannot get a picture location or URL to allow an entry to the photo onto the forum, though I have Picasa and Google photos.

I admit to being somewhat slow on computers - they don't speak English to me alas!

Can anyone more Computer (or program) savvy than me produce a full text of how to do it please?

What I am thinking about is a set of sequential operations (say 1-10) to do in order to get the desired results; all I have tried various ways (but failed abysmally) and all my attempts have been within the limits allowed.

Then, could I ask that it be made, for future members to use, into a 'Sticky' entry if that can be done please?

I am still using WinXP(Luddite!!) with Avast and malware bytes, plus others:. everything else works, and I fully expect this to do so when I have a roadmap to get there

Thank you, in advance,

Yours Peter.

I'm about to post a how-to for Picasa pictures. Please stand by...

A quick stupid question (yes, there ARE stupid questions!)....

Has the size of the photos we can upload changed or does the software adjust itself like, say, Facebook does?

It would appear the new software is better at dealing with pictures of greater size than the screen resolution you are viewing at.
It displays a picture (if larger) at the maximum width for your view, and there will be a prompt for a full-size option if you hover over the image.
NOTE: There are still limits as to size of image/file you can use though.

Looks like Guests can post on the forum?

There are several posts from a Bachmann sponsored RSS feed....
