Massoth 8157001 Reversing Loop Module on a Wye

I am connecting a Massoth Reversing Loop Module on a Wye using track Sensors. I was planning on connecting the Sensors at each end of the Wye like I was setting up a Reversing Loop. Inside the Wye section I have a rather large Run-around siding. Would a loco entering the Wye effect any locos inside the Wye using the Run-around siding . The Massoth Manual shows connecting the sensors to the entry section on a Wye section which on my Lay-out is only 600mm long and I have Metal Wheels on all my Rolling Stock.

So long as you have Sidings or Trains that ARE NOT BETWEEN THE TWO ISOLATING SECTIONS, no effect will be seen on other Trains. Just also remember though, that any Shunting or Train Mivements that are not to use the revercing facility should not enter the Isolation Section.

There are several ways that this can be done but it all depends upon the situation of the wye.

If the wye is only used for turning (i.e. one leg is a siding) then I prefer to put the sensors tracks as shown in the pic.

In this case it is the siding that "reverses" and not just a cord of the wye.

Thanks for your help. Muns this is the way I would like to set my section up but am wondering what wold happen to another loco that was working in the dead end part of the wye when another loco enters. Would I cause damage to the loco already running in the siding or damage to the loco entering the siding or would I just get a short circuit. I think I will set up a temporary set up and test both options. I have two reversing loops in my layout both use LGB reversing loop modules and have been active for about five years without any problems.

Sorry Frank, I do not understand your issue.

when a loco (or rolling stock that uses track power) crosses onto one of the sensor tracks, the reverse loop module checks the polarity of the "reversed section" (the bit below the red lines on my diagram) and if incorrect switches it over to prevent a short circuit before the wheels exit the sensor track.

Anything taking power from within the "reversed" section will see the polarity switch and that is all. (If you are running an analogue loco on DCC using loco#0 in the reversed section it will change direction when the polarity changes).

I have sidings inside the no through road end of the wye. If a loco is operating inside on these sidings (shunting), would there be any reaction to the loco shunting, when another loco enters this No Through Road section DCC only being used . Would the loco shunting change direction. Would the loco entering the siding stop. I set up my wye yesterday using the short 600mm section with sensors the black ring on the Diode facing away from the module . The loco crossed over the section ok in one direction but on the return run the power failed and the layout shut down. It did not short circuit just no power any where on my layout. I think this may be a contact issue from the central station to my track. I tested the loco on a test track and it worked OK . I will have to check this all out as it is hard to get to the point of contact from the central station to track on my layout .

A loco (as long as it is DCC equipped) that exists within the switched section should continue as normal.

I set up my wye with the small 600mm entry section yesterday. I first set up with the sensor section connected both ends this did not work as I thought, running over them at speed worked OK but when you run over them at slow speed they stall on the entry points both ways, and even short circuited some times. I was using a Aristo RDC and a small LGB starter loco . I then set up with the short circuit system connected, this works great no problem at all, running at full speed or slow speed both Locos worked fine. With this small section working my sidings are no longer inside the No Through Road just a siding off the mail line .
