Pretty sure IE is still a significant proportion of the 'market' out there? - Though may not be No.1 any more.
 
Yes, but it may be IE causing the issue not the forum.

The message asks for it to be turned off. It is, completely, so therefore there should no longer be a message. It doesn't complain that you have it loaded. ????
 
I am guessing here - I dont use software to slow down my PC, but 'how does it know'.
Is the software still loading at startup?
 
Don't get me wrong here I'm far from complaining, I just want to understand. According to my start-up menu, it isn't, which is how I found out it is actually switched off.

Puzzled of North Middle Earth.

Exactly..
It is annoying. It could be the difference between someone staying with, or leaving, the forum.

Others had posted having the same problem.. More a 'head's up' for Paul. If the same problem is on other sites they are hosting, a little feedback may be useful to help in finding the cause.
 
Hmm, despite ABP being off on this site I don't see any ads, other than the MASSOTH on the lower right. There is a blank box at the top. It seems ABP treats it as a separate page and so blocks it.
 
Never seen that problem here....

I stay permanently logged-in, and so far (touch wood) I have very few problems with GSC at all.

Ok i think this was caused by the thread print option for IE users, i have disabled this option for now and will report to the author of thread print to see if they will fix it.

I don't use IE as its just so slow and has so many bugs and security issues so didn't notice this issue. I think its sorted now though. if it happens again for anyone please let me know here.

Well, currently using IE11 here and the "Leave the page" dialog is popping up still when it feels like it.

Currently using IE don't know what and, like Muns, it comes and goes as it sees fit :rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:
 
Chrome, and it all OK here.
 
This is only an issue with IE, no other browsers are affected.

Can anyone confirm that this issue is still happening with internet explorer
 
I'll use IE 11 on this forum for a few days.... is there a procedure that makes the problem occur?

update: just used IE11 to read all new posts... hit "new posts" at top, read the first post, and then hit "new posts" again, repeated until all new posts read.

Nothing strange happened...

I would suggest that people having this issue disable all plugins for the duration and see if the problem persists.

I See you are using Internet Explorer Version 9, which is not supported any more by microsoft, may be worth upgrading to IE 11 or even better Google Chrome, which is miles faster and much much better that IE.

If Nigel is on Vista.. Can he upgrade to IE 11??

I am on Winders 7 Prof. and IE 11.

It was happening yesterday AFTER your post about disabling printing.

It is erratic. But once it has started, it seems to get worse? Sometimes I have to acknowledge twice to leave the page. - I still think it *might* be something to do with an advert inserted at top of page???

It will be most page-changes now.. But NOT all of them, and (normally) a single ping..

NOTE:
If I was to logout, I would have to acknowledge before it would close the tab/site.
