Latest Upgrade..

I have AdBlock Plus running all the time and note that the only ad I see is the small Massoth Garden Rail Outlet at the bottom right of a page. As an experiment I turned off AdBlock and one smallish advert appeared at the bottom relating to a search I did on Google for sheds. I commend those who run this wonderful site for not allowing loads of ads to spoil it for those who do not run ad blocking software unlike many others I have come across.

On the basis that the ads are either of no relevance (for me) or related to things that I have already searched for and bought, they're very easy to ignore. I simply put it down to the price you pay for a free website - there's no such thing as a free lunch :shake::shake::shake::shake:

Certainly here the minimal number of ads are easy to ignore if you wish however there are some websites that almost obliterate the content you want to view with multiple ads that might have Flash animation as well making them very intrusive. I've just checked out the home page of the EDP, which you probably know, there are eleven adverts on just that page. I understand the "free lunch" thing but feel that some sites need to strike a better balance. There is also the problem that manifested itself recently where some high profile sites who really should have been more careful allowed adverts on their sites which gave malware to some unsuspecting people who clicked on the links and these were sites that you could only access if your adblocking software was turned off.

I use Adblocker but only as a matter of course for my general browsing habits - US sites of railway interest being a particular problem.

I must say that I found a source of scenery items from an advert on this site! I'm just a numpty so I never interfere (knowingly) with the workings of my laptop or desktop! I do manage to make a mess of things though not being savvy about all these IT things!

Me neither!
Paul, have you done 'something'? - The 'leaving page' dialogues appear to have left the Forum.:clap::clap:
I'm on holiday in vegas at the moment, just checking every now and then to make sure all ok, and no not done anything.

Is it possible to print an individual post, an entire thread, or a conversation ?

Highlighting and printing text will not work, as using this method corrupts the format of the printed text.

You can print threads now using the big blue PRINT button

going a little slow at the moment.... checked my internet and it is still at 36mbps and other sites loading swiftly......
It also would not open at all for a few minutes.......

sorry about that, had a server issue and had to reboot, all back to normal now.

Recently, a red warning about ad blocking appears at the top of some pages, telling me I have an ad blocker active. In fact, it has been disabled on this site for a long time, so the detection code is not working correctly.

Regards,
Peter.

Yup, I'm getting it as well, several times a day, and I've discovered that my Adblock is turned off completely.

But it is still there.

Still getting this one intermittently..

Not on every page-change, but on most when I click on New Posts.. Sometimes I have to click a second time..

I am 90% sure this is to do with the top rolling adverts?? - Just my theory.

Winders 7 and Internet Exploder.

Try using something other than IE

I've had that red warning about ad-blocker, even though I don't use one*...... I accept that the ads are necessary to the financing of the site, and simply ignore them.

* That's mostly true..... I do have Firefox set to block pop-up ads (which really annoy me), but not those that simply appear on the actual page I'm viewing.....

I think that one is I.E. generated. I get it, but only on one website and only if I'm a touch quick trying to exit after entry. Not seen it on here at all.

i dont know the programming but I would bet it is still lurking.
