Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

if i died.. and i get 30 seconds ..i want to spend all 40 of them here

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

My last thirty secs would probably be spent trying to extinguish a gas fire underneath the NGG16. Twin burners are good in theory, but if one goes out and the gas - logically - continues to flow, sooner or later it´s going to burn. And around a minute after that pic it did. Tyres came off two wheels and superficial damage underneath. But nothing that can´t be mended.

Happy Christmas from the K&NWLR :o

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

That is rather scarey. Rather scarey? No very scarey, pleased that there is only relatively minor damage and no damage to the lovely scenery.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

No perm. damage and the locomotive has already been reviewed together with a knowledgable fellow-steamer and jointly declared "repairable" without too much trouble. Got me thinking about twin gas burners though. And might be buying a CO2 fire extinguisher to go with the present water one, which was a nice thought for my b´day a while back, but not really right for the job.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Oops
What about single gas supply to both, and a cut out of some sort?
I wonder if someone else has had the same problem
