A Swift Sixteen "Tin Turtle" Simplex, as used at the front during WWI, but returned home to serve on the K&NWLR. Lined out by Berry Hill Works, and shown here pulling the directors´ saloon coach on the Kent side of the line. Video link below.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

That was good timing! There is a 'trains and beer' day at Leighton Buzzard on 16 May and I need to book seats behind a 1:1 Simplex, so the reminder is appreciated :D

Your cellar really is the gold standard for our hobby, inspiring and depressing me in almost equal measures, when I stop watching and look out on the soggy half-finished mess in my back garden!!!

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Many thanks. The cellar however has no heating except for two Dyson towers and at 6 x 14 x 2.5m volume, trust me, there´s not a great difference to the world outside. Not a lot of rain, though, I grant you. ;)

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Pics of the line, first of the Kent side, then of the Welsh part, taken to give people a better view of how this 14m x 6m line fits together. Or doesn´t, if you forget to put the bridges linking the two sides back. :-X

That is amazing
The detail and the planning

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

I was just thinking the same. Always enjoy looking at your pix.

Can I make one humble suggestion for improving the pictures: paint the white sides dark or, better still in a colour close to the scenery above.

New girl on the K&NWLR. This is Nigel Town´s Ceylon Government Garratt, just arrived and unpacked, after an eventful voyage from the island.

Beautiful loco. The livery looks a good match for your fleet too.

A trip round the line thanks to Youtube. This is the upper loop and the video has comments blended in to tell the viewer what he might be watching.

Sorry, for not answering this one before. I personally don´t think everything has to be "exhibition black", but the real reason has to do with the light conditions in the cellar. I used a light grey colour to reflect available light better, knowing that the LED solution (hanging from ceiling) I have would be "difficult". Compromise, compromise ... I know.
