Started the plans in 2009.

Just superb. As I said elsewhere I really think this should be the subject of a magazine article or two.

Too true. Tag will willingly take it for Garden Rail. I'm sure. But somebody needs to put it together with a few words.

I believe that "Garden" in Garden Rail is the operative word - at least that´s what I understood :o

As a matter of interest what are the dimensions of the cellar ?

6m x 14m. It´s essentially two double garages with a bit in the middle. The builder of the house collected cars, and there´s a ramp down to the (ex) garage door. You can still get in through a house style door, which make things easier, if transporting stuff from outside into the cellar.

Very good point, but you could still go with the locomotives

Hi: As a latecomer to this thread about a very lovely and fine working railway,I have a couple of questions (which probably have been asked but I could not see - pardon); What is your minimum radius (radii) and what track is used (hand laid or commercial). Many thanks for taking the time and energy to post the pictures and videos for our inspiration.
Talk soon

Track is hand laid (with considerable preparatory help from the bespoke track guy at GRS in the UK, as it has a lot of multi-gauge points / turnouts). The cellar is 14m x 8m (45ft x 26ft). Minimum radii on the lower dual gauge loop (O/1 gauge) are approx. 11 foot, but some curves eg. in the harbour and in the sidings may be tighter. More pics on the Kent & North Wales Light Railway Facebook page.

Oooh, room for a new niche magazine "Cellar Rail" :D
I'm going to have to visit and I will bring my own bottle opener ;)

Many thanks! ;D ::) :-\

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

I understand from the cinema reviews that there is currently a film on release which involves a Red Room of Pain. We are pleased to announce that we have a Cellar with both Red and White. The pain depends on the quantity inbibed.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

I've just looked at a few earlier posts and you can see a huge improvement with the new lighting. Definitely worth the effort, and the wait. I saw US layout recently where they had 'led'd' out all the shadow and killed all the detail, but yours has retained all the rich colours.
