Did you manage to spot the signal box garden gnome ...? ???

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

He's always there..
Probably chucked out by his missus, and now has no gnHOME to go to!

Just getting my hat..
? is gnHOME a contender for a new model scale ?

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Some more pics from today on the K&NWLR trying to show some of the Welsh side as well, without making the unfinished bits (of which there are many) too obvious ::)

The gals from St Trinians have been photobombing some of the shots, and for some reason, a panda has been adopted by the signalman. ??? Oh, and the St Trinians gals have organised a vertically boilered skool trip somewhere. :o

Once again, the Black Pig pub contributes to the lack of staff visible on the line.

Your part of Wales has a panda roaming around.... :D

The great thing about indoor layouts is that the track rarely needs cleaning......but then you don't run track power ::)

Yes, very observant. There have been reports of a panda, but few people have actually seen it.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Is that a sipders web ? Does he live in the signal box ? Is he a mate of the Panda ? I think you need to run more trains.....

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Mike, I think if you can walk there on your hands he might let you in....

Mind you I want an independent witness to the so called telephone wire

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

The panda says he´ll act as an independent witness that it´s a phone line, but only if I make the 1:1 spider go away :D

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

A quick glance of what´s to come on the K&NWLR, re-posted by me onto my Facebook page from Matt Acton´s Berry Hill Works.

Little hint: It´s got funnels at both ends and the cab in the middle ...

Ok. For the Facebook-phobes, here we are.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

<Curious, and ignorant..>
On a practical level:
Does it 'smoke' from both ends?
Are there two burners/boilers on the model?
If so, is there 'something' to balance the pressure between the two?
Am I trying to make things too complicated?
;) :D ;D

It´s gas powered, single boiler with correspondingly ambitious burners. And it works, so I´m told. The originals had problems, not totally unrelated to the lack of space to store coal. In this one, the fireman stands on one side, and the driver on t´other.

Pics will be made, but it won´t arrive for 10 days or so. :-\

In the meantime, here´s its brother, which won´t be on the line until autumn.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Let´s imagine that one hundred years ago, Decauville in France, as the NG market collapsed after WW1, decided to get a share of the Welsh slate quarry locomotive orders. And that the demanding weather conditions forced Decauville to offer their 3t in a closed-cab version. Here´s a "might have been" built by HDC-Dampf in Germany, painted and lined out and revived by Matt (and helpers) at Berry Hill Works. Coming soon to the K&NWLR ....

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Absolutely spot on ! The house livery makes it look even better.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Beautiful little loco. Proportions are spot on for my taste.
