Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

The Decauvilles are both back safely from Geoff@Lightline, and find a moment to take part in a little parade of the Portmeirion branch line locos.

Beautiful little locos.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

I wasn´t very happy with the expanse of wall behind the viaduct on the Kent side. So I mused a little about what might fill the gap. It started off as something quite small, trust me. Just one little house.

I went to Canterbury a while back and liked what I saw around the cathedral. However, things may have got a little out of control concerning the dimensions. At least you´ll be able to see it above the viaduct. The girls from St Trinians on the traction engine seem to have it all worked out though.

You may think you mean the anglepoise lamp to the left of the tower, but if you could see through the building to the left of the tudor mistake on the right, then you´d see the following. And yes, that it is an orange quasi-alien spacecraft now to the right. But it were a grand day out.

Yes, positively clairvoyant! But then we do get some strange visitors on the K&NWLR, including apparently Wallace and Gromit.

At last!!
1.2Mbps download means I get to see the pictures..
Awesome ecclesiastical build there!! :o :D :D :D

You don't fancy a week, or two, sorting scenery in the UK Midlands do you?? - There are only the two of us, and neither of us have any real modelling skills.. Resuscitation of the Harz may take some time!

Presumably you want to go for something like the Wernigerode town hall :o

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Ms K&NWLR having left to spend our hard-earned cash on a car, it´s back to clearing up on the layout prior to locomotive testing. But first a lot of boxes, Styrodur offcuts, mistakes and stuff to be taken to the rubbish sorting place, where it is (round the back) then tipped again into one container.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

First organised try-out of the Peter Angus pre-owned Single Fairlie "Moel Tryfan" and she runs perfectly. At a guess, I´d say that she´s over 20 years old and has seen a lot of action. Only a change of water value (for topping up) and water level glass necessary. Everything else tight and without any obvious leaks. 15 minutes running light, followed by two carriages for another 15 minutes before the gas ran out, with only a light water topping up between runs.

Sorry about the pics, but they were taken towards the end of the run, when I realised that I´d just been standing there with my jaw open watching all the time.

Kent & North Wales .... ;D

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

It a sign of a good run, when you've been that absorbed you forget to take photos ;)

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Let´s just imagine that the French narrow gauge company, Decauville, found itself forced to open up shop in Wales, searching for new markets after sales plummeted post-First World War. But the harsh climate of the slate quarries forced them for the first time to think about enclosed cabs ....

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Yup, gets a like from me. Whilst a little open Decauville looks spot on with a few toastrack coaches in a french seaside resort, this mod picks it up and definitely drops it in industrial north Wales. Don't forget a few rolled up canvas sheets for the glorious welsh weather !

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Can´t resist a space on the line for a new building. This is going to be slightly "quirky". Based on Fyndon´s Gate in Canterbury, it answers the question whether it would have been more sensible to build a railway through the gate to improve access ...... ???

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

A cunning plan, but one that has a predecessor .... it´s going to be interesting to see how the 3D printing works, since we´ve decided to do it in as close a stone-like material as possible. The Canterbury Cathedral gate was something of a compromise .... :o

Your going to 3D print the building? Interesting idea, tell us more :D please ;)
