Ebay Shops Germany V 100 £272, £294, + shipping varies £8 to around £15 to the UK that is. obviously no further charges for importing from the EU

Not sure what the situation with New Zealand would be though.

Steve,

Grootspur charged me 70 Euro to ship out a Piko Pressnitzlbahn (sp) BR204 to Aust early last year. Still made it a lot cheaper than buying locally.

When you look at the price in Europe, with Sound it is an even bigger steal. I will be buying mine from Glendale. My reasons being that I wish to support UK Traders, but just as important I have credit after some second hand sales. One of which was my old LGB Sound Green V51 which for some reason I never particularly liked.

I wonder what is going on with LGB (Maerklin) as prices for Locs certainly appear to be more reasonable at the moment. Specially with Sound looking to be pretty well the norm with many of the new offerings. Not that I am going to complain. My little Kof is a cracker and I am looking forward to the V100. Perhaps with Piko upping their game on the quality stakes, plus Train Line offerings LGB now have some serious competition.

Order placed today In the UK!! Support your local Model Shop and all that etc.

Well Oldham is not that local to me really!!

The V 100 arrived yeaterday excellent price + next day delivery from Arcadiarail.

First impressions are good, it is certainly different from Lehmann productions in some aspects, No driver ( easily rectified) Cab doors do not open ( so What!!), lack of vacuum pipes etc ( again easily rectified)

The sounds are fine, haulage power seems to be quite impressive, certainly hauls more than I would require it do haul in normal use.

And competetively priced, allowing me to keep adding to the garratt fund!! ???

A member mentioned earlier in this thread that the windows fell inwards on his V100...........

Well today I picked mine up and forgot the warning and grasping it by the cab section exerted a little pressure on the `glass` on one side and it fell inwards!!

So I took off the body simple... 8 screws...The body removes completely no cables to worry about ( see below re lights) I epoxied the windows in place I was a little surprised to note that the original amount of adhesive used was very tiny!! The `glass` sections do not click into place and do require adhesive to make them stay in place.

At the same time i fitted a driver in the cab I found that the standard LGB `Stooping` driver figure would fit JUST providing that he is carefully placed so his cap fits into raised section in the centre of the cab roof.

There is PLENTY of space within the body for anyone considering battery R/C control, infact unlike some LGB locos the inside is surprisingly empty.

The 3 running lights at each end of the loco are lit by a single white LED whose light is transferred to the 3 individual loco lamps via a plastic insert in the end of the body, in fact the lights are rather poor in use and in normal daylight conditions it is difficult to actually tell if the lights are on or not, there is no cab light.

So overall the loco is good value for money I paid £350 for mine, ( The loco comes with factory fitted digital decoder +sound)001.JPG002.JPG which is less than the discount price being offered for the latest release DR 0-4-0T. But it does have the feel of `not being quite LGB`. Although the running qualities are fine it is much more powerful than an LGB V51.

Attached a couple of pics of the chassis.

Thanks for the review, Steve, and for the very useful body-off pics! :)

At the price that they go for in Germany, it is the sort of loco that one could consider buying just to use the complete running chassis (with decoder, sound etc) to build a different body on top....mmm, various possibilities spring to mind.... ;)

Have to say the inside does look very spartan. Picking mine up this Thursday from Glendale. Then let the hacking begin.

Mine just arrived from Kent Garden Rail - most impressed, thought the price was good especially as sound was included. Have been test running today with a short load to see how it tackled the inclines:

No problems so far taking two Piko 6-wheelers up the half-bubble inclines. Will increase the load tomorrow to see how many more coaches it can handle.

now phil how do you like your merlins, single as in supermarine spitfires or in 4 ie avro lancasters

Don't forged the Hawker Hurricane, 1700 where build in WW2 and only 400 Spitfires! The spit gets the credit for the battle of Britain though.

The V100 looks oddly stretched IMHO.

No .... looks OK when you actually see the loco.

Although some aspects of the loco are a bit disappointing, The Lights are quite useless unles viewed in dimish light! They are fed by just one LED at each end, the Red lights are not actual working lights ( not that that is much of an issue), There is no cab light, and no driver figure, The cab windows are not very well fixed in place and will fall inwards if any pressure is applied! ( easily rectified with additional adhesive)

However on the plus side it is exceptionally powerful, and inexpensive for a digitally equipped sound loco I paid Just over £300 from a UK Dealer which was only slightly more than the current prices in Germany, and I received delivery next day! rather than wait for shipping from Europe!!

PS re Keiths post earlier, I tried mine up an approx 1 in 25 incline on R3 curve for part of the way no problem with 7 x 4 axle coaches, well actually there was because the train was too long to fit the loop at the end of the incline ( a terminus station) so loco was uncoupled to hand shunt it ( ie Sky lift!!) to the other end but the coaches started to run back down the incline and we had to grab them quickly due to the R2 curve at end of incline and a concrete tunnel mouth!!
Not my line a friends :o

As a matter of interest, due to my change of direction!!

The V100 will be offered for sale ( actually that was my reason for 'testing' it yesterday on friends line, he is interested in possibly buying it but currently cash is tight so if i find a buyer he doesnt mind)

If there is any interest please PM me

I hope to get it listed on Private sales later today, :)

That must be a record, even for you Steve....

I did pick mine up on the 9th from Glendale. Not been able to run it (at home) as my Massoth CS has been returned to Germany due to a major problem. Wish I had bought Rushy's one now as a back up. I tried it out on Iterious LGB P DCC and the sound was OK then not. Also the Lighs were flashing oddly. Have set up my old LGB at home, but Radio is Carp for distance, barely managing 30ft. So testing will need to wait return of Massoth CS. In the meantime hacking will not begin until I have proved running at home with my Massoth CS.

Yes I was thinking that, but not to worry, it just would not have fitted in with my revised plans and i had received it before my abrupt change of site in the garden, incidentally i have an Allegra due soon!! (well 2 actually but not in G scale)

Does the V100 come with central NG buffers to swap with the standard gauge ones ?
No comes with very little, mostly Moulded on detail, no seperate vac pipes, no driver figure, no opening doors ( although that is no big deal except body has to be removed to fit driver)
Lights are not too good either (single LED and Plastic periscope light transmission to lenses, difficult to see in anything but dull lighting) also no cab light
ON the PLUS side it is fairly cheap considering it has decoder + sound on board and powerful more so than say a V51 (as it has 2 traction tyres) There are some you tube clips showing it hauling longish trains.
