Yes, we seem to have more experience in the US with larger layouts and higher current requirements. The over the joiner clamps are hardly made any more, since they rely on the joiner "inside" to work... that gets oxidized and no amount of external clamping helps.

It was attractive to some at first, since you can just "add" them easily, but as always the easy way isn't always the best way.

Putting them on does not remove or stop any additional oxidation or dirt or grit.

Small update, after getting another delivery of clamps, the outer circuit is 90% done. And look at the results tonthe current if you think back to last week, what it was. I should have the entire outer mainline done by tomorrow, and the smaller inner circuit by end of next week. Sidings will be done, but not a priority right now.

Interesting, the extra resistance lowered the voltage to the decoders.

The decoders drew more current to offset the lower voltage available.

After an extensive project of putting track clamps on every join, I just have the sidings to do now. Reliability has improved ten fold.
