Building Billy

I realize this is an older post but thought you might still be following. i have a Billy kit coming and also a slo mo. I built one in the 90's but sold it a number of years ago. Your build was really a nice thing to review the construction. I plan to radio control mine also. I really like the shade of blue that you used. I am wondering how you painted yours. Did you use an etching primer first and did you need to bake yours in an oven. Thanks for the help.
 
The body the painted parts in Billy are brass, so an etch primer is essential, I think the chassis is steel. These days I hear most folk are using etch primer even on steel. Baking is one of those things that will depend on what top-coat you use. Most folk here use rattle cans of car paint or similar.

Which parts need heat resistant paint? I'm assuming the smoke box. I believe I may have used grill paint in the past.
 
Just the smoke-box and door I think.
