Thinking about it, I used to run mine originally from the Controller I had with my original LGB starter set.
I just connected the TE to the output terminals and turned the knob up to full!
The TE will do the polarity reversal so if you want to get it running quickly....

Well based on the info so far I am looking at:
12V 240Watts 20 Amp Universal Regulated Switching Power Supply Transformer hoping this will be suitable.

for the TE point/accessory receivers you will not need more than 1 amp as they are only driving point motors and other small stuff...(anything bigger will need a relay ).
This is just what you need....... LGB 50083 ....nice and compact 1 amp DC up to 22V ... about 25 squid on ebay..or maybe even cheaper here.

Many thanks; £125.00 seems a lot considering I only need 1 amp maximum at 12 V, though I can't access evil at work, I will look closer when I get home.
Jimmy, I thought you were going to run trains from this? 12v is for smaller scales, you should plan on 24 volts... not all locos need this voltage to run full speed, but some do.

I bought an LED light transformer for my power supply. It has worked a treat for some years. You do of course have to put a lead on them but they are fine if you can wire a plug. Plentiful & cheap on ebay. Something like this LED Transformer/Power Supply/Adaptor/Driver DC12V/24V 24W-360W DIY Lighting LEDs | eBay but there are cheaper ones. You could go for 24v 10 amp if you want to power one TE or maybe around 24v 20 amp for two or more.
Chris, one of the things I have looked is the LED transformers, sold for as little £3.50, though I think I would pay a little more, hopefully for more reliability.
