OK, we are now complete and tested :D:D
There were a couple of last minute hitches :impatient::impatient:

A short on the main power side - you know how it is when you've forgotten to solder a wire in place and everything's tucked away, so you think you can fix it another way - well, the other way was a short circuit :Looser: Sorted

Then we had a huge issue with the cell pack for the sound card refusing to charge. As usual, everybody waded in with helpful comments and ideas :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:
I think it was Mel who was right, one of the battery holders was a dud - fixed with a small wire jumper - simples

So this is the sound card end, and three of the four controls can be reached through the bonnet hatch - the one you cannot now adjust is the VOLUME -:happy:

The other end houses the controls - on/off/charge + socket for power and sound - haven't got around to applying the instructions.

So , it's all bench tested, but not been on da track for clearance testing :banghead::banghead:
Bench testing without rollers - simples, a strip of 12mm ply approx 30 - 35 mm wide, in line under the power trucks :clap:

Directional lighting, cab light comes on when you switch on, and then right at the last minute, I realised that forwards on the R/C was backwards on the loco - no probs with the cheapest R/C on the market, there's polairty change switches for all 4 channels :D:D

Testing when I've got shot of me cough :eek:nphone::eek:nphone:

Takes a bit of getting used to, driving with the R/C.

It helps having the sound, because you can tell when you've returned the joystick to 'neutral' :-

In addition, with the MAC5, you can turn the R/C off, once you've got up to cruise speed. Which is great, but then you decide you want to slow down, and the engine's not responding, because the R/C's still switched off

Only downside. Bachmann make the couplings adjustable to take into account the different heights for 1:22.5 stock (bogie mounted) and 1:20.3 stock (body mounted).

OK so far, except the high setting is much too high  which is why the lead wagon was changed to the flat, because that's got different height couplings either end - some of my wagons have, and I set one of the loco couplings at each height, to make it a universal soldier. I should standardise them :confused: nah, too simple and too expensive :happy::happy:

Mr Dremmel's at work

I've also got an order in to Narrow Planet for some name plates.

Well, she is a biggie, so she's going to be a Big BERTHA :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

HH

I couldn't order the extra thick nameplates fro 16 mm scale from Narrow PLanet, as the loco probably wouldn't clear the bridge with the extra width :happy:
