That looks incredibly smart
It's surprising how quickly you can go off some people

Thanks, but I can't take credit for thinking of using rail. I think I read here on GSC about someone using oo rail in the LGB catenary system possibly in a tram system.Brilliant! Clever solution using the rail![]()
Just like the real railway, a few Network Rail lines here in the UK have a rail rather than wire. Normal in tunnels with little clearance. Thameslink St Pancras spring to mind. Thanks, but I can't take credit for thinking of using rail. I did think of slotting and using the brass screws and steel rod for supports thou.
Using these driven by a meager budget at the moment and wanting to use up stuff I had laying around.
, the O gauge rail I bought 25 years. When I first tried getting back into railway modelling.
I didn't get far, 1 x O gauge open wagon kit built and 2 bundles of bullhead rail bought at a clearance sale.
Thankfully the rail was found in my last garage cleanup, safely stuck at the back of a offcuts rack inside a offcut of conduit and forgotten all about.![]()
I hear it often said , there is a prototype for everything.Just like the real railway, a few Network Rail lines here in the UK have a rail rather than wire. Normal in tunnels with little clearance. Thameslink St Pancras spring to mind.
I think the Severn Tunnel may also be another.Just like the real railway, a few Network Rail lines here in the UK have a rail rather than wire. Normal in tunnels with little clearance. Thameslink St Pancras spring to mind.

Yeah, there's something special about the tunnel roof fixings I thinkI think the Severn Tunnel may also be another.
Yes they are, we got the shade sails already, but have to wait until our budget can cope with the cost of the awning.Marvellous progress. I've noticed the grey posts in several shots - are they for a sail-style canopy?

A little more progress, all just minor scenery work.

Finished the planter beside the orange rock, 3 more mini conifer cuttings and some baby's tears planted in the space.
Some small rocks cut for a shallow planter for baby's tears to the right of the track on the shelf.

New tunnel portal in place, I like how the colours came out on this more than the previous photo.
I will paint them this way from now on. Cut the rock for above the portal, there is space for a small planter for baby's tears between the rocks above the portal.

A large rock removed from this space and thinner rocks cut to fit. When finished the siding will go over the space, this will let 1 more wagon fit in the siding.
I will relay the siding track more to the left and have the concrete plant on the right.

Rocks cut to fit around the new tunnel.

Foam cut to fit the gap.

Test train in action, again leaving minimum clearance either side.
All the rocks and portals awaiting a nice sunny day to mortar them in place.
Ok will do today before I go any further.May I suggest a test with your loco, you may be supprise by the overhang it has. When I bought my Ge4/4 I had to move one of the storage roads further away from the shed wall because of the overhang, everything else (even sliding side wagons) had been OK with the storage roads as they were.
Stewie, your railway continues to impress me with every new picture posted.A little more progress, all just minor scenery work.
