I have gathered a collection of me night photies.
If you have time and maybe the inclination........ they are on the railroad's Facebook page...
Just in case you may not have experience of trawling photos on Facebook, just click on one photo and you can then go from one to the next using the arrows that appear as you move your cursor to the side edges

Tee hee
It is just a web site Gavin...no need to join Faceache to see the pages........also my railroad is on a different sort of facebook page from the ones where folk post things about themselves and what they want to say.
There are pages for 'communities'. In fact a lot of railway interest groups have their own community page like 'narrow gauge railways', 'G-scale Society', 'G scale trains', 'UK Model Railways', etc etc...and... a few of this forum's members have a Facebook site......including my little one

Superb Photos!!! Some camera details would be good... I have a nikon D3200 and it takes very good night shots....

Nice, always enjoy the atmosphere of your railway. And it takes on a whole different character at night. :D

(Oh and did you get my email? ??? )

Hi Mick
Cameras...
Some where taken with my old Canon IXUS 900Ti compact. It is not too bad in low light but it automatically selects slow shutter speeds so unless a tripod is at hand, you get a bit of blur.

Some were taken with my old (now gone) Olympus 620 DSLR. It was a good camera but low light was not its forte. You can see some shots with a peppering of noise speckles...those were taken wit this camera.

The others were taken with my Panasonic Lumix G6 micro 4/3 with the new version of the 14-140 (equivalent to a 28-280) lens or a standard lens. This camera is lovely to use, it handles like a small, light DSLR, has great resolving power, totally articulating touch screen and has the great option ofinterchangeable lenses.
I have been mucking about with the full 1080p HD video and will get a new video of the layout together soon....

I would like Panasonic to give their range of travel TZ compacts (now on TZ60) and articulating view screen and then I would get one of those. As they are very small, have a long zoom lens and are incredibly well specified...in fact great for travelling. But the G6 would still be used for the more 'serious' stuff.....

Fantastic shots. You sure have a lot of detail on your RR. The mine and pickle factory look great at night.

Cheers Greg.
The pickle factory main building did look a lot different when I first scratch built it but it had a total revamp to give its current appearance. I placed a cheaply bought, second hand Piko tower along side it to give the complex a bit of 'presence'.
The quarry section also has one of these towers but had to be totally repainted to fit in with the 'gravel works' building that was already there. Again, I think it does give the section of the layout a bit of 'attitude'
