And I have tried to do a before and after - having uncovered just a few old photos. It has never operated normally (apart from testing the extension), it was always in its box - being the most useless piece of stock I had ever bought. Hiopefully things may change!

I've tried to pose the loco in the same position as the originals but, as I relied on my memory it was more John Sargeant than Francis Frith!

Thanks:thumbup: It might grow on me yet!

I hope it's usefulness increases for you. Thanks for the before and after photos. The show what a slug it used to be.

The photos are great, thanks Mick - a real transformation - from something ugly to something ugly

PS I LOVE ugly

Maybe, maybe, Dan. I'm going to test its hauling capabilities today (hopefully).

Don - it was the best I could do (it wasn't even in my list/pics of locos owned!).

Maybe I should name it properly - PLUG?:rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

Mick, as I said, I LOVE ugly - the loco is fantastic ! Well done

Plug from The Bash Street Kids - couldn't be more perfect :rolf:

:rolf::rolf::rolf:I was thinking of Plug Ugly but I NOW remember Plug in Bash Street 'cos you've mentioned him:rolf::rolf::rolf:

Got to test it before lunch (after replacing the wiring on Bachmann power unit) - a couple of pics - the rest are in the Ox Mountain thread! Strung six cars behind it which was/is the maximum I think - started to slow down on the turning loop (R2s) so it will be three or four trucks or cars on the R1s of the trailer:thumbup:

That depends, Ed - do you have any problem with being cut into bits, large chunks removed and then being glued back together again...?
I'm sure I've got a hacksaw somewhere here - and with the new series of Dexter just started, I'm sure I can figure out how to do the first part at least (lots of poly sheeting and gaffer tape seem to be required!).
:rolf:

Great job BTW, Mick - it now looks far more acceptable as a piece of narrow-gauge stock.

Jon.

PS: another vote for Plug as a great name - BTW, who were the other Bash Street Kids? I can only recall Plug and Smiffy by name....

Thanks Jon! Regards the BSK - Danny, 'erbert, Plug, Sidney, Smiffy, Spotty, Toots, Wilfrid & Cuthbert (according to Wiki) - the good old Beano remember when it was 2d!

Hi Steven, its up to you but I took 20mm off each side (40mm overall) as this dramatically alters the swing out on sharp curves. The side pieces then need the "deck" tops carefully removing and the little section of front beam.

Also remember this, if you cut at 20mm, the depth of your cut will also be around 20mm because of the thickness of the plastic moulding. You will be left with some of this on the portion that you retain so that has to be trimmed off to allow the trimmed sides to fit. A medium to coarse file is useful as is oxide sanding paper.

Good luck!

Nice job trammayo its still an ungainly brute I have rebuilt mine 3 times first 2times as a box cab and still it did not look right so in the end iI rebuilt it again a bit more radical I think ! I thing I will do a seperate topic
