My latest effort....

Drawn in TinkerCAD and printed off.

IMG_1244.JPG

The roof (and floor) are plasticard as it seemed daft to 3D print large expanses of undetailed sheet plastic. The wheels are Lilliput metal spoked as I'm not entirely sure about the efficacy of 3D printing wheels (waddyafink?). There's still a bit of tidying-up to do and, of course, it needs painting, but I think it gives a feel for the early Southwold Railway van on which it is based.

It's brilliant, I think the wheel problem with printing wheels is how much wears off onto the track.. Ie, lgbs own plastic wheels leave bits behind, hence going metal..

Yep - wheels, don't even try.

Two reasons: wear, as you said Mike, and weight.

I have been modeling of two re-railers.
One for straight track & one for LGB R1 track.
Both are made to screw directly on the track.
001.JPG
The R1 version still needs some adjustment, to get closer to the track.

I know for a model, it does not really matter..
But what material are you printing it in, and what type of adhesive will you be using?

Do you also have stl files for a depressed centre car therapist? - The mental health of our railways is important. :nerd::D:D

Bits for the New Signal Box at Silene, got bored printing bits for my pub that take 4 to 6 hours each to print  I may have over done the Phones  but it takes the same time to print one or a bed full of them on a Resin Printer :) Also printed most of the Signal Box for the Bits to go in.

Hi All,
For my Aristo-Craft SD45, I needed to modify the hood to include a nose light to match the D&RGW. Ended up recreating the hood with a slot to drop in a nose light (also 3d printed). Had to sand and putty a bit. Still some painting to be done for the safety stripes...then some weathering. Did these parts on a Flashforge creator pro using ABS. I also use simplify3d as the slicer. Thanks to everyone here for your inspiring ideas on this thread.

Ooo. Is there any chance you will be making the files available Steen? I have some 3 axle buckeye trucks that are desperately in need of using and I had been thinking a depressed centre flat car would suit them nicely.
I have been trying to work up the CAD experience to design something myself. Yours looks very well thought out

Hi PhilP

The STL's will be ready, as soon as I have printer the first proto.
I'm printing in PLA, and i join the parts with 3M screws.

I'm also do a other version depressed center car:
002 (2).JPG
I'm not satisficed with the result, so i'm re-drawing it and moving the joints between the S-part and the center. The small part can be placen i the middel.
All 4 colors are PLA - the wooden deck is of cause a wood-PLA.
