Not really in the workschop, but
I'm currently on holiday and have spent the last week at the Hanover-Wehmingen Tram Museum. While there, I made some improvements to the LGB layout and added some overhead lines to one section. This section had previously been built by young people. The plan was for a steam reversible train unit to set off from there. Unfortunately, the children did not finish this task. Other members completed the section.
I installed an overhead line there. The masts are still being painted.

I noticed 'daylight between the side-piece and bottom plate on this GRS gauge-modified to 'Lyn'.
This piece hold the bearing in place, and has broken away from the bottom-plate.
Covered in grease / oil, so will need to be degrease, before I attempt to get it re-attached.
Just slows things down, and means I have 'bits' sitting around taking up valuable work-space.

they are just as reliable, as LBG/Playmo.
i had this bash on base of a "GOLDILOK" chinese car running for about 12 or 13 years without problems.
(just for interest: if the axles are GOLDILOK, they should be either for 50mm gauge, or be manually changed to 45mm)
Was it a glued job or a moulding that has been trashed due to a nose dive from a height?Just caught this in time, I think?

A liberal bath in IPA, and the other side is coming away as well. - Suggests the glue is coming to the end of its life?

Jon, it has been 'hacked' and glued..
These were a very limited number, converted to 32mm gauge by GRS. The blocks cut-down so everything could be moved inwards.
There are gaps where the cuts have not been very accurate.
I have bonded where it touches with Tamiya thin cement. I will now use something thicker, to fill the gaps and add strength.
These are not the most robust units to start with, and the modifications don't help.

Scary conversion, I can see the desire but a scratch chassis would have been a more robust and expensive job. I expect in the day they would have had a lot of punters looking for a 32mm gauge version.

Here's what happened last night, in the cosy lighted veranda where I have my workbench during the summer... It was a surprise to see the results in daylight and I'm not too shocked. Might dull down the iron on the side boards a bit and weather the brake platform and steps and get some grease stains around the wheel suspension, but other than that...
I recently flogged an RCS control system to a guy in the 16mm society that was desparate to get a replacement for a failed one. The one I had likely been sitting around for a decade and a half never having been used.

If it was Brandbright, the on/off switch is likely to be on the front buffer beam - a practice that I dislike
They did demo one for me when I visited the shop out near Cromer, the control and sound was impressive
I assume that's an early Baguley Drewery, not a metal chassis one.
