What happened at your workbench today?

Trying to figure out how long it really takes to charge up a set of new batteries in my NGG16.

When I turn on the power to the charger, the red RX output lights comes on, and ten hours later, has NOT yet gone off.

Something is not well in the state of Denmark, methinks.

It depends....
On the charger, type capacity, and type of batteries, their state of charge 'as supplied'.

This does not surprise me..
When it does finish, let them 'rest' overnight, then charge them again.

I think someone thinks it is lunchtime?

There is a partially constructed wiring loom, under that tummy. :rolleyes:

PhilP.
Better than in that tummy.

A large tabby I had used to like chasing string. One day I noticed during the game that the piece of string between my hand and his mouth was only about eight inches long, getting him clenched between my knees and holding his mouth open with two fingers, I pulled about two feet of string out of him.

I have had very long charging times, both for initial charges and occasionally when topping them up after a winter's storage. Overnight plus a few hours. All has been well after that...

Is that using a Smart Charger (as supplied by Fosworks) as I thought they switched off after fully charging.

Sometimes with a Smart Charger, supplied by Strikalite, but also an ordinary (ie not smart) charger that I used on my IOM locos.

The only adhesive I recommend for LGB plastics..

Here being slowly built-up to fill the voids, where the cutting of the 'block had not been too accurate.

This will be given 24 hours, before I reassemble the unit.

Where is this available from - thanks :)

I got mine from Bertram Heyn..

Grootspoor list it, but I am not sure if they are presently trading with the UK?

Technicoll.eu seems to be a source of information? They might be able to give you details of a UK supplier.

PhilP.

Can't understand a word of it..

But going to the site, I have downloaded the English version of the pdf.
:nerd:

Now, where's me Asda 'wearing flag'?

No longer - from about three years back. Too much hassle, he said. It might be that he has also sold up.

My charger has now been 'charging for over 48 houts, and is still showing a red light................ I used a meter on the contacts, and the current is good and strong.

If you haven't...
I would give charger and batteries a rest overnight, to cool down if nothing else..

NOTE:
I advocate not leaving batteries to charge unattended, and certainly not overnight.

I've been watching them throughout, and never try to charge batteries overnight.

Though sound advice, but these are not Lithium, and how many of us leave out phones, tablets, laptops, toothbrush, and all other things plugged into the charger over night!!

Just put my Rh Little John on the charger last week. The battery was full within a few minutes, the charger indicated. Can't be. Measured and it turned out that only 0.6V terminal voltage of a 9.6V battery pack remained. And so the charger does nothing. Therefore, I put a 9V power supply on the battery and measured the voltage every few minutes, which went up. When the voltage was around 9V, the battery charger was connected and of course it started charging! But you do have to stay with it/monitor it when you have connected the power supply to the battery!

Never thought that a battery with such a low voltage could still be brought to life!

Not quite the workbench, but;

Started to get power back to my points. The mains transformer and controller are all in the garage, and before the ramp on the path, we had a step and the conduit ran under the step overhang. When the ramp was put in this was no longer practical, and lots of thought how to get power over the path. the solution is an arch to support the conduit.

The remain of the step, with the conduit:

The ramp, and no place for the conduit;

Three options:
1) No power to the points.
2) Run the power in a duct in the ground.
3) Run the power over the ramp (at height).
Option 3 and an arch;
