What happened at your workbench today?

I had to give up a job as I couldn't see the 100 micron wires I was soldering.

I'm long sighted with astigmatism, so I can't focus close up, even with corrective eyewear.

My distance vision though is excellent....
Mr Plod won't wear it - I can't see the speedo officer, but I can read the number plate on the car in the next county :devil:

Speedo is easy!

Just like an analogue clock, I know where my 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 markers are. On the Golf, 60 mph is at 12 O'clock.

I also have the digital display between the clocks set for mph, which can also be set to kph if driving in Europe or the Republic of Ireland....

Unfortunately, due to the age of the housing stock in the UK, many properties have a garage you can get a modern car in. - Just!

With effort, you might have enough room to get out of the car. :worried:
But your passenger won't..

It appears most garages in the US are separate buildings? - Many with a bigger footprint, than the average British house. :D

Yebbut, nobody puts a car in their garage, so it'll be perfick for a G scale layout :party::party:

Ah Dan

There lies the greatest difference between our two nations, space. The one thing we cannot create in the UK is more land.

Ever heard of Emanate Domain.....:giggle:.....Simply tell your neighbor that his property is needed for the good of transportation, then simply annex it.....

As most cars these days are made vastly bigger than they were even 10 years ago, its no wonder they dont fit in a garage built for a Cortina, even the smallest Mini is now twice the size of the original. Try parking properly in the Cambridge Grand Arcade carpark, or any other multistorey carpark of you choice.

There has been no acceptance of the car size as you say, notion is to get as many ‘spaces’ into the area as bean counters are in charge nit anyone with practical experience. Same with trains, seats packed in again as the bean counters still in pre Flu mode where commuters were the only way to make any money. A friend of mine had a Garage in Hemel that I reckon would have only fitted an old sit up and beg Ford Popular or an Austin 7.

You park at the Grand Arcade?

Are you made of money?

In Cambridge, it's cheaper to park on double yellow lines and pay the fine....

Baseboards now painted with a couple of coats of tough coat hard wearing emulsion, Matt black sides, green tops. The green tops are a temporary finish, to take the bareness off the boards while they are being worked on. Eventually, anything not covered by track, platforms or structures will be finished off with scenic mats of one sort or another. Now that the sides have been painted, I can fit the latches that will lock the boards together.

I think I would have gone dark brown (soil?).
But that will be much easier to mark up.

You are obviously getting better weather, that little bit further south?

Why am i reminded, of those 1970's 80's psychedelic flowered patterned bus saloon roofs, that made people
