Good afternoon all.

I hope you will humour/forgive me posting this again- it is different!

After I first posted this last sunday there were a few things that really made me feel like I had been too impatient and in another afternoon I could do more justice to the idea. The re-positioned chimney had a big gloop of glue at it's base, the steam pipes i had added from the dome looked wrong, the steam pipes leaving the front of the tanks had ill fitting holes, there were no crew, and the "steam leak" looked wrong and the switch was too prominent.

I have stuck to using things we already have to make a toy more real, but just improved it a little. BTW to make the plasticky finish and gloss cereal packet look like pitted metal (to my eyes) i brushed thin super glue over the model before spraying.

[*]So a couple of nuts round the steam pipes[*]dome pipes removed[*]steam leak removed[*]crew (kids farm figures made suitably coal covered. The fireman is really shoveling muck)[*]tidied chimney [*]moved switch Now I am quite pleased.

I REALLY like it mate. The only thing I would maybe change is to move the chimney back slightly to be above the middle of the smokebox. I think the last picture really shows that it's mounted a bit too far forward. The crew looks great and the pitted metal look is very convincing. :thumbup::thumbup:
 
yes i only saw that when i looked at the pics. it is really obvious when you notice it. more chimney adjustments next weekend... Nearly got there!

Local toy shop £2.50 each. Quite a selcetion of them in there. They are meant to be farmers.
Going to move chimney and take some batteries out as it is a bit fast. nearly there.

I could do, but i will see if i have the labels as I am sure they will be on the net. Watch this space but i am travelling this week...

As Ian is on the road, I think that they are Schleich figures Steven - loads of them on the internet and ebay via a search.

hi so thks u for pm me so i did found another MY old steam loco in the layout oudoor on the small rockery near the pond!!! so im going to KITBASHING and scatchbuilting it....so i like tht wood at the front and the back SO did u make tht coal bunk at the back?

lookingh great so BY THE WAY hw did u add weathering with some thick stuffs like muds......cheers....
im convert into battery without speed controller...
