The appear to be a couple of detail differences between the Franzburg and its DR liveried cousin - one or two of the boiler fittings seem different, and the DR one has no top lamp (though the square socket for it is still there, which looks a little ugly to me).

Yes, the loco is quite a bit smaller all round than the Stainz despite being on a similar chassis.

Interestingly, it seems to squat-down more than the Stainz.. I wait to see if the 'block is a new moulding..??

I gather from things I've read in the past that the classic Stainz is actually around 1:19 scale.... on that basis I would reckon the Franzburg is possibly closer to the "proper" 1:22.5..... not that it matters!

Sure I have seen something very similar lately. - Been going through some back-issues I was given at Stafford, so may have been in them, rather than on here??

I assume the real-world Franzburg is a well-tank design, as is the Stainz? The short side tanks look to be for coal bunkerage only, and there appear to be water filler funnels either side of the boiler, similar to (but slightly less obvious than) the large single filler funnel on the left side of the Stainz.
Given that the Franzburg has a much lower boiler profile than the Stainz (the scale difference mentioned in my last post notwithstanding), one wonders what kind of water capacity the original has...?
