Street Lamp sort-of-things!

Hello,
I'm looking to place some street lamps or similar style around my layout at like 1 metre intervals to give it some light in the evenings.
Wiring is simple, all in parallel, however, I'm struggling to find any lamps or ideas on how to make some.
Anyone got any ideas or photos they could pass on please?
Thanks :)

You could also try Garden Centres?

I had some LED powered Gas Lamps which I brought from another forum member.

However, they didn't fare too well outdoors so some were re-used on my indoor layout, Hardyard....

Maybe a few ideas there....

What period/style are you after?

For a modern (urban) style, someone on here used the balls from roll-on deodorants.. One hole, a plastic tube, and a LED.
If you browse for dolls house fittings, you can find a period-style bracket lamp.. These can be modified to make them into a post-lamp. - Either with, or without, the bracket..

Also worth looking around the house / garage / shed for small odd-shaped bits you can use to make lamp-heads from..
I have had some success with up-market tooth-brush containers (before everything went 'shrink-wrap'). Cut into sections about 12 mm thick, a top from thick plastruct with shaped edges, Plastruct pole offset to one end, with a LED hot-glued in the fitting.
Anything with an oval/rectangular profile of a suitable size really..
Sure others will chip-in with ideas..

I'd quite like the lamps to be in scale, not garden/solar style ones (a bit too big)
The old American style that had the oval top with the bulb underneath, opposed to a period style, is the type I'm after.

That's pretty much exactly what I want, except black poles not brown, thanks!
Is that just solder you have holding the lamp on?
And what is the cap bit from?

hi, you can paint the wooden dowles, black.. no, thats the legs of the L.E.D. ..the wires feeding them are runnning up the pole in a grove i cut into it.. glued in place.. the caps are tube caps, from b+q.. the poles are simplely pushed into holes in the ground..

Liam, or just buy a few LGB Piko lights every once in a while you can get a bargain on ebay ect ..

That sounds about like my attempt

which will give you one, or many of these

I have just built some using the Chinese e-bay lamps. Mentioned by Stockers.  Bought them from

I used plastistrut styrene tube and plasticard for the fabrication.
