Repair a LGB cog loco

I acquired a LGB 70246 Zugspitz Rack Train Set at auction and found the loco to be a non-runner although it was not described as such! It is taking power but stutters and stops. I think it’s a gear-related problem but don’t have the experience to take it apart myself. Can anyone recommend a repair service I can consign it to?

Paul at P&S Scarborough fixed my FO rack loco. Really knows what he's doing.
Thanks, that’s a good idea. I ordered the new Alpine Ge 4/4 II locomotive from Paul last year and as LGB took so long to deliver it we had a few conversations. I will drop him an email and see if he can have a look at it.

I acquired too the Zugspitz kit at an auction back in 2021, When did you get yours, been looking out for another !

Mine was "brand spanking new", not a single sign of ware or use from when it was sold back in 1997. it started me off on this journey, even had the local postcard they sent out with it in the set. All i did was add the correct Zugspitz bahn decals to the coachs and SOLD IT to a lovely chap up in southport. As I completely dismantle all my locos and convert to battery i just could not see this pristine example butchered by myself ! ..... It reached a good price on fleabay so I was able to purchase a tired Red FO version for the garden and the Zugspitze HOm Lemke Hobbytrain set for the "planned" indoor layout.. The Hobbytrain also plays German songs and cow bells !
Gears on these are quite robust ! but getting hold of rack pinions is a pain, if anyonme sees them on their travels do let me know !

but still in the back of my hollow life sits a space for another Zugspitze set one day, my fav little railway in Germany.

me, the wife and now 15 year old cav on top of the zugs in 2017

Addition to my post about P&S. I was not intending to disrespect Andy Spencer (Amazing Little Trains) when I mentioned P&S. Andy is a fine chap and fine model engineer and will do a great job.
