Back in 1987-8 when I visited NZ I came home with a rather nice pamphlet about Price Engineering. There were pictures of many of the Locomotives that the Company built. Of great interest to me at the time were the Articulated Designs on their Books. Some weird and wonderful beasts here. The one that I decided to have a go at was the Class D. I used Stompers for the Chassis replacing the Road Wheels with Curly 10mm Wheels. The Chassis is all Plasticard with the Boiler being a piece of Conveniently Sized Gutter Downpipe. Chimney a piece of Central Heating Pipe with filler to blend it in. The rest is more Plasticard, Wood for the Cab and a Couple of Switches to control it. The 2 AA`s are hidden in the bunker. Trundles rather than runs. But it needs more work, never touched it in a Decade now. Just not my thing anymore.

An intertesting model (and interesting propulsion). I think we need to know more ;D

You know you need to finish it! PLease!

Over the years, I have seen articles about these "Stompers" mechanisms. Never tried one. I'll have to give them another look.

Good that it would cause some interest. The mechs are small Cars that used to exist around the 80's. they were a 4 Wheel Drive Mechanism that would almost go anywhere. Mostly looked like Off Roaders and Beech Buggies. The key was that they could be used to make 32 and 45 Rail Mechanisms as well. You may get lucky and see one at a Boot Sale or some such. But I would guess that if they had been in kids hands all these year they would be trashed by now. Just had a quick look on Ebay. Plenty on offer in USA, but only 1 in k and only a body at that. Have a look though by searching "Stompers" you will see what they are and maybe know what you are looking for. But don't expect power miracles from them.

Will I finish it? Who knows, have a Harz LGB 2-10-2 on the bench that is a Big Weathering Project. Plus looking at some of my pics of Rollwagens, having sprayed the I still have more detail that must be added.

Never ends!
