In the end I put both sets in, and alongside the fence. Access to the points will be harder when the veg is growing in summer - but I am at some point ripping out the beds and making one big lawn, at which point I will put a neat edge on the railway. At the moment apart from isolation I have not sorted track power.

btw...loves yr ballast on the tracks so i ask u wot types of it?
 
Just a thought mate!

Are you going to motorise those points?

Given the current access difficulties, it might help. You could wire both motors together as a pair, on each crossover, like what I does....

Looks excellent Ian. From the last picture, the two points toe to toe gives a nice flowing curve which always brings a smile to my face. I'd say the whole shebang needs LOTS of testing. :bigsmile:
 
Hi All - yes Gizz I had thought about that. Especially as I have just been running round like a loon to avoid headons :-) although i was deliberately creating lots of conflicts....

Peter agreed. I just had the alco at full chat with 20 wagons and all worked fine. I then propelled the whole lot slowy through as many opposing points as I could and no probs... that being said if at some point before the open day you are going east i think testing might mice and mallets is essential....

yes the section before the yards is quite pleasing to the eye. When the ballast is groomed and the railheads shiney with a few plants around to hide the mud it should look the part....
