Hi all,

I would like to find some modern day plastic vehicles to supplement my garden railway such e.g. cars, trucks and construction vehicles etc and that look the correct scale.
Has anyone found a source for these please? ideally on the web.

Not plastic, but if you do a search for 1/24th scale die-cast cars on ebay, you should find hundreds of them. I have also found many suitable plastic vehicles for sale in my local TKMax made by companies such as Dickie like the digger in this photo.

Try the Toymaster website and look for makes like Dickie, Motorzone and Peterkin for vehicles of about 1:24 scale. These are fairly cheap and are a realistic representation of vehicles. I have a few myself and they have been out doors in all weathers.

Some 1:18 scale like Welly, although a little larger, may also be suitable for your railway. Smaller scales such as the 1:32 might also work, so look at Brittains and others....

Yes indeed Ian, car boot sales, markets etc. are a good source. Antics have always got plenty of reasonably priced 1/24th and 1/18th die casts in stock too.

Ealry Learning Centre sometimes have Dickie brand Vehicles but rebranded for ELC, I've seen the Dickie Unimog fire-engine in my local store.

Smyths toy wharehouses are another good source of 1/24th scale (or there-abouts) plastic vehicles, again a lot of them look like re-branded Dickie toys.

Also seen a few in my local Tesco and Asda stores but usually seasonal (around Xmas in particular), and as Mel says check out your local TKMax.
